Something similar happened to me coming from Houston going to SA. I had a red import(they all look the same) tailing me for several miles would not go around. Even when I gave it a little to about 90 or so he kept tailing me. I had my escort passport radar detector on. The cops will get you speeding in Austin county. I finally got tired of it and that buzzing exhaust sound that I quickly switched lanes and slowed leaving the car in the fast lane and got back behind it. I guess he was pissed cause he drove on leaving me behind. I knew not far down the road is where Hennessy is located. I always make it a point to slow down look as I pass by to see what they are test driving if any Camaros. Instead I saw cop lights and that red car pulled over on the shoulder. I laughed. well actually LMFAO. Camaro Karma.

111th and I57 is Chicago.... you just needed to go north on 57

Not many people follow me that long, then again I have spent the last few years in high end places for both work and living.

I'm beginning to think I live in the most uneventful area of the country. Nobody follows me, nobody vandalizes my car, nobody takes random pictures of my car, nobody tries to race me at every corner...I probably just jinxed myself.

Always good to keep your "Escape and Evasion" skills ready. First lesson: When you think that MAYBE you are being followed, make a U-turn somewhere. This will either cause the other vehicle to chicken out and you are gone, gone, gone... or, if he also makes a U-turn, you've got confirmation, and now it's on!............................................... ...... Lot's of ways to lose 'em: High speed is one, if you have the skills, the equipment, and the other guy doesn't. Or, on a highway, position yourself in a left lane, setting it up so that your follower is just left of a big rig in the right lane... when you reach an offramp, cut hard, take an extra lane to get to the offramp, and your tail will be completely blocked by the rig.............................................. Or (this one is hairy, but I did it... and it was highly successful): Find a side street, emptier the better. Come to a stop, then hit reverse. Go around him, and keep hauling ass in reverse... go as far and as fast as you can. Guaranteed, he will not follow you in reverse, but will turn around (takes at least a few seconds) and come towards you. When you see him getting close, stand on your brakes, drop it into to 'drive,' and get around him. You will now have a HUGE lead, as he will need to come to a stop, turn around (best if you can do it on a road narrow enough to require a three- point or more turnaround), and accelerate, while you, in the meantime, are just hauling ass to go disappear into the distance.

...and... if it's nighttime, and you can find a place to hide, remember to take your foot off the brake: You do not want those bright red beacons leading your tail to you. .................................................. Never, ever, let yourself get blocked: Don't pull into a parking space that you can't pull through if he sees you and stops, never go down and unknown alley or road that MIGHT have a dead end, and never take a dirt road that is not familiar to you............................................... ..... At a red light, stop, then go when traffic is clear (of course it could attract the attention of a cop: That would be a good thing right now!). This might weed out the casual stalker who is just screwing around... if your tail, however, follows you through a red light, then he's serious. Another variation is to run that red light strategically in front of cross traffic, so that YOU make it through, but he can't (the traffic variation of the classic movie car chase, where the pursued crosses the RR tracks just infront of the speeding train, and the pursuers cannot... but finding a train in just the right place is a rare thing!)

This. There are a lot of dumb people here, but they know that half the state is carrying so they don't really try anything stupid. I never leave the house without a gun. You just never know.

I would have wanted to get out of my car and try to beat the crap out of him....but I wouldn't because I'd assume he'd have a gun and kill me with it. So...I would have just done what you did for maybe the first hour or so and then would have called the police.

Florida has a pretty bad violent crime rate in comparison with other states. I'm totally for a concealed weapons permit. I just think that has more to do with the outcome of the attempted crime more than it acts as a detraction. ie. idiot gets blasted instead of taking your car

I definitely would have called the police or the highway patrol.
