Sellling 1LE Question
Kind of thinking about preparing for a Corvette. Will I get hammered on the 1le if I sell it private party? Its only got 850miles on it, $750 worth of 3m and Snow rims and tires.

In general, yes. To this general public (and dealerships) this is a Camaro SS with a an added option, it is not a different model (ZL1). Unless the buyer is specifically looking for a 1SS/1LE you price will most likely be higher than all other 1SS on the market.
The other issue being in the mid west is that the majority of buyers in Michigan and maybe Northern Ohio have some sort of relationship with GM. (suppliers, employees, friends and family) so unless you purchased at a good price most people in my area (Suburban Detroit) that would consider driving to pick up a used 1LE can order a new one for near the same cost if not less than a used one. Enjoy it for a bit before selling if you want to try and spreed the loss over a few thousand miles instead of 850. |

I will keep you in mind, I think I may try to put the car on auto-trader and see what happens. Thank you for the advice. Other feel free to comment. I'm trying to think if I'm just out of my mind here.

if you buy a Corvette C7 now, wouldn't you also have to pay the dealer's markup over MSRP?

Good plan. I don't believe in paying the dealer's markup either.
but for you, this could be a long wait. |

I bought my 1LE wheels from a member on here that was trading his 1LE into a dealer and the dealer wasn't giving him a very good trade in value. So he made up some of the trade in value by selling his 1LE wheels/tires. That could always be an option for you if you are trading it in too.

If you're good with a dealer, then you should see what they'll give you on a trade in for the Vette. When I started looking for a Camaro, I went to that Chevy dealer in Naperville and found a four month old 2SS that a guy traded back in on a Vette. It had sat on the lot for a month and I made a cash offer to which they said the asking price was what they gave the guy for a trade. It had already dropped in price once. I'm sure they made it up on the Vette, but you never know it might not be any worse than dealing with a private sale.

Not driven in snow at all, nor rain. Sits in the garage. Summer tires are stored. Didn't want the car sitting on the summer tires. Car is perfect. All things considered I don't want to be off retail price of the car with the addition of the winter rims and tires to the deal and the 3m of course

It is possible to get a good deal especially if a Chevrolet dealer doesn't have a 1LE on the lot. Longer you wait the "wow factor" of the 1LE will be gone. A lot of dealers don't know what a 1LE is. Play your cards right you'lll be fine like I did. Last edited by FINALLYSATISFIED; 02-21-2013 at 11:53 PM. |
