Billy has it right, 90 db some days 93 others and once in a blue moon 110. All of the big manufacturers usually buy up the high DB days. Black flags are a common occurrence every track day. The 1LE with CAI and NPP with fuse pulled is right at 88db so I have never had a problem. There was a ZR1 that got black flagged on the very 1st warm up lap and he had left off at the booth. The DB is what makes it fun for a stock car, because you know everyone else is close to that too...

Sweet - We're planning for July now, instead of the spring. Looks like we're going to do the 24-26 SCCA regional, and then I'll stick around to do the Speed SF on the 30th. I'll be studying those vids you posted until then!

When I was there (pre mods) I didn't get flagged but a ZL1 did.

Can't imagine what'll happen now with my shorty headers and mid pipes w/o the resonator. I also have NPP but I have a FOB that can close the flaps for normal operation. Maybe letting off the gas by the tower will help that ....

I have come to realize that they tend to target guys that let off, I have now seen this over and over again. I was playing around with a IOM 13 ZL1 who did not know the track as well as I do, we would flat out race up the hill, never got flagged. One of the instructors who were behind us said "you guys need to let off in that area". The VERY FIRST TIME he did.....out comes the flag. I think it is kind of at the will of the axe man (like GM), as long as you are close and not pretending, you are ok....you try to fake it...POW! your outta here!

I hope this isn't too stupid of a question, but what's the red plug in the front? I know there's a knock-out there and I was just curious what goes there... Thanks...

Not a stupid question, you dont know what you dont know, it's a transponder.

Conerspeed beat me to it....SpeedSF does a class shootout each track day, costs an extra $20 for 5 laps hence the transponder. Fastest in each group wins a cool trophy. Last event a ZR1 conveniently asked to be moved FromA to B group after 2 sessions and beat me by 2 seconds.

Typical Laguna Seca costs (for all of you track noobies):

Track $175-$300
Transponder rental $20
Pictures $35
Helmet rental (none at speedsf) $30

Speed Sf is the best though $195 gets all the above (except helmet) and you normally get 4-5 20+minute sessions. You will know the track pretty well by the 4th session if you are on the ball. Most Camaro owners have no idea of the capability of their cars and run 1:55 laps and the max speed my car has seen is around 118mph on the track. It does favor high horsepower cars (even though it is a short, technical course) because of the amount of uphill areas there are, look at my pics and you can see the elevation, it really is deceiving and 400hp+ rules these areas.

That knock-out where the transponder goes, is it specifically made for that? Is there a port behind the knock-out or is it just a convenient place for it? Sorrry about all the questions I had jsut noticed the knock-out on mine and was curious if it was something you could be put in and out or if it was a one shot deal... Thanks.
