1 7/8" long tubes with HF cats can get you up to 40hp

1 7/8" probably the most common setup. Its what I went with (I don't have them installed yet), I considered 2", but I was worried about emissions (idk if it would have been a issue or not) and was worried about it being too loud like obnoxious.
I think the gains from 1 7/8 to 2 would have been minimal, your really not going to notice 10 or 20 hp difference....but obnoxious noise you will.

I'd suggest getting them ceramic coated, but that is my personal preference.

I am running Kooks 1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8" headers on my Camaro and the results have been great. See the thread in the bolt on section below-

You have a L99? If you do, why not just turn AFM off? My AFM is still on, but I'm going to have it turned off when the headers go on....hopefully sometime this week.
Drone doesn't bother me, but I wonder how the car sounds from the outside going down the road.

M6 at first with out cats it would pop some slowing down. but with s/c and cam can't slow down with out clutch in.

There was a comparison on here that showed 1 7/8 to be a pretty good size for most setups. I'm running kooks 1 7/8

Typically, yes. About 1lb on most I have seen. You are simply making a more efficient air pump. More power with less boost is a good thing.
A pulley swap with headers is a good way to maximize gains if you are after a bunch of power.

Right. I just got the next smaller pulley to get the boost where I wanted it.

I have 1 7/8" Kooks LT headers on my car.
