New 2012 2SS - Starter Problem - P1682 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I'm having a starter issue and I'm wondering if any of my fellow C5 owners have had the same issue and what was done to correct it.

I have a brand new 2012 2SS M6 that I just took delivery on 10-5. Twice I have experienced a delayed start. I turn the key and there's about a 1 second delay before the engine cranks.

This morning, it cranked and cranked for a bit and I turned it off. Tried again and it started fine.

The check engine light came on after all three instances.

OnStar gave me this code: P1682 Control Module Performance - Ignition Circuit.

They said this usually happens when you get a battery jump, but since mine is new, I didn't have that done. They also said something about the system unable to 'read the key'. But, it was hard to understand the guy talking due to foreign accent.

Anyone out there that knows about this problem, please share the info.

Yes, I will be taking it back to the dealer, but I wanted to gather as much information as I could before I do that.

Your best bet is just take it back to the dealer.

mine never did that,,,,it just didnt crank at all........nothing had it towed to dealer code P0633 immobiler key lost program,,,,,,,30 minutes to fix,,,they just downloaded new program and was fixed

2012 ss, has not happened to me.

It turned out to be a faulty power train and crank relay. They replaced the parts and I was done.
