Do your breaks squeal on your Camaro SS?

I just bought a 2011 Camaro 2SS, and my brakes are squealing everytime I slow down to stop. I understand they are high performance Brembo Brakes, so some noise may be normal due to the metallic pads but it is pretty embarassing when coming to a stop. Does everyone else have this issue with their car?

Have you inspected the brakes yet? I would not judge your cars symptoms by whether or not another cars brakes squeal. All cars brakes could squeal, heck my Z/28 was squealing this evening when I went out for pizza. I would have the brakes inspected for rotor wear, type of pads installed, anti/rattle squeak clips or shims for the pads, and that the calipers are installed with proper bolt torque. The sound your hearing is the vibration of the rotors, (similar to a wet finger around crystal wine glass).

Mine due. A lot of cars do that as the brakes wear. I'm going to have mine inspected in the near future.

When they get hot, ever since new. But only a tiny bit, not enough to be embarrassing or fingernails on chalkboard.

Check your brake pads to make sure they don't need replacing.

Brembos make some noise under light application.

A couple things here, you indicate that you just bought it. Do you know if the previous owner or dealership may have just put new brakes on? If so, what type pad material was used? Metallic brake pads are much more prone to squealing. If semi-metallic or ceramic, were the broken in with some hard braking stops to wear them in? Just some ideas here.

Mine do and always have. My rotors warped at less than 10k kms, had them machined, but the squealing didn't change. I asked this question as well before, I understand that they can glaze and hard breaking will help to remove the glazing. Not a very technical answer but is what I have been told. Car is due for service and time to check the brakes as I'm at 64k kms.

The Camaro comes with metallic brake pads and metallic pads will squeal a little on light applications. Check the pads first to see if they are worn and need replacing, if they are good then do a bed in procedure and your squeal should go away for a couple months.

Mine make a little "squeal" (if you want to call it that) sometimes, after the car has been sitting for a while - especially if the rotors were wet when I parked it, or it is very humid. If you look closely, you can see a light coating of rust that forms on the rotor.

I have about a 1/4 mile between my driveway and a stop sign at the end of the street. If I just apply the brakes a little firmly as I approach the stop, it rubs that rust off and no more squeal from then on - until the next time. If no moisture is on the rotors when I park it, there is no squeal when I drive it after sitting.

A lot of road grime will sometimes gum up the pads and coat the rotors. I have always cleaned my rotors with rubbing alcohol on my Harley when this happens (Brembos also) and the squeal goes away. Not saying this will cure your issue.

Mine don't now. They did with the stock brembo's but since I have done the 6 piston CTS-V conversion, they are quiet as can be.
