also appeared to be the stock with some chrome on it - so no/little preformance gains and now many airbox alternatives its no wonder its gone.

I hadn't heard it was discontinued - I thought it just wasn't available yet.

Guess I better ask my dealer for a refund. I paid for one when I bought my car.

From what I understand the older design was discontinued and the new design will be available near the end of the month.

That is werid !!

There has to be something wrong, all the sites were showing that this part is in stock, and I'm referring to one GMPP as per GM cataloge.

Quadratec told me it has been discontinued referring to the GMPP code number and recommended Airaid as a replacement !!

Hope that we get a new part as you mentioned, with MORE gains not with 2010 seal on it.

Yeah. I can't imagine GM not having a cold air box for this car. That would really not make any sense. I really want to see what they have come up with.
Hopefully on the 28th we will find out.

The problem is that they said it was released in 2009, did any one buy it, try it?

Because if they discontinued the 2009 version for any drawbacks, they should announce the 2010 and the new improvements !!

So far nothing was released in the media, and thats why I dont expect a lot from them.

If GM is not able to satisfy us with a decent CAI, they should sack it from the warranty and give it to K&N, SLP, or Airaid to do the job.

Holding us from the throat is a Monoplay!

Yeah, well I'm just going to wait and see what they offer. My car is sleeping right now, so I'm in no hurry to buy any product. If by spring GM does not have a nice product on the table I will pull the trigger on another unit. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm not positive but believe back when I had my 05 GTO GM had an available air box that they called a cold air intake. It looked like the one your talking about for the Camaro. It was just the same as factory except it had a shinny tube and a shinny cover. There were no gains and it was way higher than an actual cold air intake. Most that bought it bought it for all the chrome look because that was all it was good for. I wish I could remember how much it was. I just know it was really over priced.

I sent an e-mail to GMPP last night after reading the above post:

I have paid for and ordered the Air Intake Kit (92212304) from the dealership in my area, so far they have been able to find out when this part will actually be released. On the Camaro5 website someone has posted that this part has been discontinued. Can you tell me if this is true or not and if it is not true when the Air Intake will be out. I have already added the GMPP Exhaust System with tips and would like to add the Air Intake Kit and the Shortie Headers that I have heard Borla is making for GMPP to add to my 2LT/RS. Any information on these items would be greatly appreciated.

and this is the reply I got from them this morning:

Hello Walter,

Currently part numbers 92212304 and 92231566 are listed as a future parts per the information supplied from GM at this time. Part number 92212304 and 92231566 are currently on backorder with GM and GM does not have an ETA for the part to be released off backorder.
I apologize GM does not list or provide their manufacturer/supplier information of their parts.

Thank you,

Jason

SO I will wait and hope that it is not to long.

Walt B.
