PlastiDip Stripes
Considering doing some DIY stripes with plastidip, seems cheaper than going vinyl. Anything I should be aware of? I just don't want it to look crap.

I tried to do some larger areas with plastidip and it didnt turn out to well. It can be done but it can be a PITA to get a nice consistent finish with sharp lines(to my standards anyway). You have to peel the tape off while the plastidip is still wet and do it in pretty much one heavy coat. I tried once and decided vinyl was the way to go. Plastidip does work awesome for emblems and trim pieces though.

Ya I have done a bunch of both vinyl and plasti dip. You will be much happier with the final product if you use vinyl. Some things are better to plasti dip but stripes are not one of them. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my car. I ripped off plasti dip stripes to replace with vinyl because the plasti dip is hard to get perfect. If you want a link to some great/affordable vinyl strips PM me.

Yeah gotta admit I'm a bit of a perfectionist too so I'm thinking it has to be vinyl! There's a good choice of kits over there in the US but I worry that shipping them over to the UK would end up costing a lot and I worry about creases in the vinyl shipping by air.

Plastdip is cheesy if you ask me. Why would anyone spend as much money as they do on a Camaro be it a V6, SS or ZL1 and then put on that cheap looking stuff....I dont get it but im not knocking anyone who does, its your Camaro not mine.

I've never actually seen it on anything in person but from what I've read I'm more and more convinced it's not the answer

Get it insured.
It'll come in a strong cardboard tube #ask. Just let it lay flat for a few days when you get it I had faux 45th edition stripes done locally and averagely for £320 and that was hood, roof, trunk & spoiler Next time I will DIY it all as the 3M only cost about £80 |

Check these out that did mine, when you look at the cost of the kits to buy, it's well worth the petrol to get there |

We've seen the stripes on Jules car at the meets. I'd defy anyone to tell the difference from factory fitted. It's a no-brainer.

I didn't plastidip stripes but I did do my rims today, at some point I'll be changing to 20's anyway but this was a nice cheap stop gap
