2010 vs 2011 vs 2012 camaro
what are the negatives i should be looking for when shopping for a used 2ss camaro? Is there a year you would avoid over the other?

A lot of 2010s are now out of the bumper to bumper warranty.
The 2012 is supposed to have improved handling over the others, and a power passenger seat. It has a different steering wheel too that some people hate.

It used to be said about GM cars, don't buy the first production year, so they can learn how to build them. May be some truth in that with the convertibles, in regards to their tops. Seems that each year Chevy includes more standard features on the Camaros, maybe it is more cost effective that way, ordering parts and building them all as one.
I do like the earlier steering wheels just because they say "Camaro" on them rather than the bowtie, but I haven't ever actually driven a Camaro with that steering wheel. Now for 2013 the 2SS has electronic steering while my 2012 doesn't. Not sure if I ever have driven a car with electronic steering, maybe a rental, but it does seem where steering is going. In another case, I have met a guy who had a very nice 2010 SS/RS and he liked it because it wasn't "cluttered up" with junk like rear-view cameras and the like... |

I had a '10, now a '12.
I like the '12 better. The power pass seat is a biggie for my shorter friends. The Boston Accoustics stereo sounds a lot better in the '12. The MN6 trans shifts better on the '12, no more grind on 2nd or 3rd. I don't mind the steering wheel, don't really look at it that much. HUD is nice. The dash improvements really improve the interior look. When people rode in my '10, the bitched about the low passenger seat and cheap looking plastic dash. No more bitching heard from passengers in my '12. And the driver really likes the smoother shifting trans and better sounding BA. I think the best thing is get the newest one you can swing the $ for. With the improvements made over the 3 years (HUD, gauge design, suspension, back-up camera, electric pass seat, etc), not to mention the other fixes (Paint & Clear Coat, heater hose location, etc), I'd go for the newest "used" car you can afford. If you can find a used '12 that's actually cheaper than new, go for it. Otherwise, buy a '13 and get the other goodies (MyLink, frameless rearview mirror, 1LE package ).

Clearly, based on the Vararam thread we are finding that the '12s ECU sucks which means that the early years will almost always be more capable cars because they can at least have real ram air setups and whatnot. Still no word on the tunability of the '12 ECU that I know of.

I agree, get the newest you can afford. The power passenger seat in the 12's is great, especially for my short wife. You'll see some complaints about the 12 and up steering wheels, but I think it looks and feels fine. I don't really drive around looking down at the steering wheel anyway!

ill stick with my 10 SS pioneer touchscreen headunit trumps stock and ******** with JL Audio 10 helps the stock speakers giving me a clean hitting system. As far as handling goes unless your buying a ZL1 the aftermarket suspension upgrades like swaybars and springs arent expensive and give u the better handling car. So u can buy new or used 10 or 11 and have a better performing car with money left over but not have new car smell and that first owner feeling which one day i do want.

2012!
The interior alone makes it better, I was not going to buy a camaro because I hated the plastic cheap look inside of the two-tone plates in the door and the front dash. They changed to cloth and leather instead of the plastic is a huge difference to me. Also More HP better steering wheel, and suspensions does help All depends on the deal and what you can afford also |
