2011-ish Civic Si Coupe. Really?

Saw a stock Civic Si coupe today, manual trans. Who do you think would take the lead by 60? The Civic or a 1LS with a 6-speed manual? The Camaro has a lot of weight on the Civic, but it's also got another 120 horses or so. (Yeah, not to mention, the Camaro owner actually gets to go home in a cool car at the end of the day)

I'd love to drive the piss out of both cars around the track, but until then, all I have is forum bench racing....

Unless you are in the snow or he has heavy modded his car you win easily. My base civic will kill my Camaro in the snow though

Yeah, if you drive a civic after driving a SS Camaro you feel like the civic is working really really hard and not really going anywhere. However, when loaded modded up with huge turbos and tons of boost it is funny to see all that power at the front wheels.

He said a 1ls guys. A stock 2011 civic si should run low 14's high 13's with a good driver.

A stock k20a2 puts down around 200whp. They make power extremely easily, and hold it together pretty reliably. If I were choosing between an si and a v6 camaro, I'd choose the si anyday.

Sidewinder manifold, pte6262, id1000s, rbc intake manifold, kpro, and all the little things that go along with that, and you're looking at 500whp on pump gas. We made 840whp on a friend's stock block on a 67mm, but it threw a rod after some hard passes at the track. Don't let the people here tell you otherwise. You may look cooler in the camaro, that's all opinion, but the fact is, you can go faster in that civic mod for mod.

If you decide to do a roots blower, you could easily run 12's. You can find Jackson racing blowers for as low as $1200-1500. Then all you need is kpro and header back exhaust.

I know you guys don't like Honda's, neither do I, but my older brother has a Honda Civic Si (2012, 2.4L 210hp) and those things are no joke. Stock for stock I would only pull away at the top of 2nd gear. He can beat pre2011 Mustang GTs just like I can. That 1000lb weight benefit helps quite a bit. And he's going to turbo it which would put him around 300whp I think. Yeah I have a V6 but I wouldn't want any part of that regardless.

Now, the 2011 and earlier Civic Si has the 2.0L 180hp? engine. It makes a lot less power but makes up for it by revving to 8000rpm. They are slower.

...

Huh? A stock si in the low 14s or high 13s.

200 wheel horsepower ????

Sorry but I'm calling the BS flag on this one.

The 2013 si was tested to run a 14.6, and looking at the 2011 on a civic si message board, their stock posted 1/4 mile times where all high 14s to mid 15s.

From a dig the si might give a stock V6 Camaro some compeition until around 60 mph because of its huge weight advantage, but after that the Camaro will pull away. From a roll the si would have no chance.

Never seen a modded Civic Si that could hook up. I can't imagine what a 500 rwhp (much less 800+ rwhp) would do with all that power. Sit and spin I imagine.

I don't know what track you guys are going to, but there are plenty stock chassis civics pulling 1.5 60ft's and running low 9's. And these are your average guys building track cars.

550whp civic is capable of 10's.

Call bs all you want, but I've been messing with them for over 10 years. K20a2, k20z1/3, k24a2, all from the factory make close to 200whp. They were all under rated. Most of the guys on the newer civic forums are not the brightest. You're better off checking out k20a.

Granted this is a 92 hatch, but the newer ones still launch fairly well. This one was making 840whp on low boost. My friend's old car.

550whp V6 Camaro is capable of 10's too...

Edit: LOW boost? I guess GretchenGotGrowl's car is N/A

What are the limits on the v6 though? Stock sleeves, a k20 is capable of 900whp. Complete stock bottom end, just cams and turbo setup, you're looking at 700whp with stock rods and pistons.

I'm not saying that the camaros aren't awesome cars. I OWN ONE. I'm saying that people underestimating the wrong civic is going to get embarrassed.
