Painted Fascia, Grills and light bezels

We photoshop'd Inferno Orange on the grills, light bezels and rear fascia. I liked what I saw and painted them while I did the RS style stripes. We added the 1/4 inch stripe around the main stripe. I used the Escalade/Tahoe gold pearl white for the stripes. It works well with the gold in the Inferno Orange.
We cleared the entire hood, trunk and spoiler.
We removed the front and rear bumpers the get to the black parts for removal.
I've had it at a couple of dealers and shows and have had great response.

Trunk stripe looks a thousand times better that way, some of them just look like a square. Personally I think all the orange up front is too much but that's my opinion amd it's your car not mine, so to that I say good job and enjoy.

We didn't sand the rough finish off the fascia, just prepped it for paint. I like the "monochramatic" look so I think the lighting and emblems break up the Orange enough.

Not for me, but to each his own. Looks like it was well done though!

Step away from the car

It would be nice to see what it looks like from a distance.

The front reminds me of a car model kit that was assembled but not painted yet lol. Interesting look though. Needs some contrast accents though. Try putting a white stripe on the edge of the middle horizontal bar on the top grill (the one that goes through the bowtie) and the same middle bar on the bottom grill. You can do it with white tape just to get an idea if it would look good. If it does, go with paint.

Since you're going with the auto-expo-show-car look, try removing the chrome bezels around the tail lights like Hylton did on his. I think it would work nicely on this car.

Good post!

I'll be shooting some more photos when we shoot the new exhaust. I custom made a Flowmaster system and I need to get it back on the lift to shoot it.

Mike,

What color primer/sealer did your painter use on the black plastic?

Thanks,

Dave

We used a light gray primer/sealer to obtain the factory color on the Orange. No sanding was done so as not to remove the texture finish of the plastic. Two coats of clear to finish things off. I'll be getting some more photos of it today.

Paint the RS emblems black with silver borders. IMO that would look better.
