Clicking sound in center console area

I did a search but I couldn't find any relative results. Tonight I noticed that when I depress my brake pedal when in park I can hear a clicking noise coming from the shifter area. Also while in park if I depress the button on the gear shifter while in park i can hear a pretty loud clicking from behind the gauges on the dash and also from the center console shifting area. Im assuming it has to do with the shift interlock function but is it normal to hear the clicking? Im not sure if it just started doing it tonight or if I just havent noticed it. Its a 2010 2SS/RS A6 by the way.
