Any pictures of the pistons and where/how they cracked ?

One of the first set of forged LS pistons I used were Ross. I stripped the engine after around 10k and found the web between pin boss and skirt cracked on all 8 pistons.
Was lucky I did pull the engine, as could have ended badly if left like that.
Although there were no symptoms of a problem, I was just wanting to change some things

Ive also used Wiseco, cant say Ive ever had a problem, they do make good pistons. I'd choose them over Ross based on my experiences.

Although dont really get how cracked pistons were preventing you tuning or making power ?
Especially at such low mileage ?

So did GM build the first one?

Who tuned it?

Hell I even like the Keith Black pistons. I've put 30k of hard DD and racing on a set and sold the car and I also heard of a guy spraying 3 stages of 200 on some in a 5.0 Windsor(600 total). Its all in the ring gap and piston to wall clearances.

It was a brand new GM LSX block and LSX heads build by a local old time experienced engine builder here in Canada. Seems it was just some bad pistons that got through quality control.

Time to look ahead and see what the new LSX with LSX-DR heads will do

that's what I was thinking.

Situation does suck though. I would be pissed, but I wouldn't expect more than 8 pistons.

My Wisecos have been getting pounded on for the last year, HKE ordered the pistons around Apr 2012. No problems yet. I'll see how they do at my new boost level of 20 psi or so and 1100ish whp. Knocks on wood!

With that great new Livernois motor we had to re-work the turbo piping due to the awesome LSX-DR heads!! Also had to machine the hi rise intake and fuel rails which took a while because the machine shop was backed up. We also ordered and just installed the new Squash fuel system.

Getting all back together and should be on the dyno for tuning next week

Cant wait to see how much power we can tweek out of that Livernois 427 LSX mean motor ....

I will post results in a new thread - so we can now consider this thread - dead

Great post

To those who are running "Seizeco's"...you're on a ticking timebomb. Your motor is gonna Glock first time you get on it.

All wiseco pistons suck and you're a dumb ass if you run them. HKE racing engines included.

BTW, Wisecos here on an HKE racing engines built motor. Im a sucker!

ETA: stick to 2 stroke motocross.

My Livernois motor is running great. 10k miles and plenty of 1000+rwhp pulls. No issues at all.
