My motor go boom!

Well it wasnt that dramatic. But good ol cylinder 7 gave up on me.

Cylinder 7 is on the left.

And for the cylinder itself!

couldnt find the piece borken off either

Anyways, its time to move on. So this is what i am thinking as far as a setup witll go. Curious if anyone else is running a similiar layout and can provide feedback. so here is my list...

*twin precision 6262 rear mounted turbos
*weisco pistons-bore 4.07- -11cc dish
*callie compstar I beam rods
*stock crank
*coated bearings all aroudn
*ARP studs and bolts all aroudn
*full valve train upgrade
*ID1000's
*aeromotive fuel pump and setup
*very mild boost cam
*stock heads
*Meth injection

as far as what else is done to the car it can be found in my build journal here...http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138457

So i drive my car a lot, it actually was my daily driver. So I want something that will be able to take the abuse i put it through.

My ultimate goal is to pump ~20psi of boost into her.

So i am ready for the good and the bad opions. lets hear em.

I don't have the exact setup but am using these parts you plan to:
the same Wiseco -11cc pistons
Callies I beam rods
stock crank
coated bearings
ARP head studs
ID1000s

I have a ysi, big cam, meth w/dual nozzles, prc260 heads, and the squash system.

I put down 825rwhp on a dynojet BEFORE the bigger cam, meth, and heads. I also added 4# (went from 15.xx to 20) of boost putting me at 20psi at the top so I don't know where I am but I know the car feels faster now and spins the tires easier.

I think you will be fine.

Thats exactly what i was hoping to see. I was figuring thats right where i would fall with similiar numbers as well. You able to run her at the track yet?

Not yet... I am planning an upgrade to some things first because I don't want to break anything on the first outing. I have already broken the stock rear on the street. When I am done, it should run in the 9s easily and get me kicked out of a track because it doesn't have a roll bar yet.

thats my exact goal is to be the first Manual in the 9's with stock displacement. I was able to run a 10.99 with only 622whp on stock rear end and suspension.

what did you break on your rear? i shattered my spider gears once haha

What do you think caused it to go boom?

I broke teeth off the ring gear. They were the weak Richmond 4.10s. I was grabbing second gear and CLUNK.

I went back to 3.45s and no issues since but traction is a problem and the biggest savior of my driveline. Gforce 9" is in the works though along with other goodies.

It is common that cylinder 7 runs a little more lean then the others. So possibly leaned out when i shifted. But realistically i just think its the fact that i was producing well over 650whp on the motor for a long time... and i drive this thing HARD.

Ah yeah, I am thinking about seeing what the stock gear will do for me. I really can't recall of anyone breaking the stock 3.45 gear. and if it has happened its very limites. So i will probably just get a true trac posi unit and run stock gear until it gives up.

I am also running billet caps and a posi mod. I want to change it out before I break it. I can sell it to recoup some of the 9" money.

Why thank you . I'm hoping to borrow some DRs and I'm going to a Dig or Roll racing event next week. Get some good roll runs in and hopefully late in the day when it cools down make a few 1/4 passes.

haha i have followed your build too. You could go witht he bigger turbos due to bigger discplacement for sure. I bet you would have more fun with those twin @ 18psi ;-)
