Gasoline engines will still be produced for quite a while. And they will continue to be on the road decades from now.
I’m old and been accused of not seeing the future. I think I have company.

In. 20-30 years, I doubt it will be legal to drive these cars. The world and in particular the automobile and laws are changing so fast, there is not a bright future for a gasoline powered classic. In some countries it has been the law to remove cars from use after x years so the overall pollution is reduced more quickly as technology advances. In the US we’ve based many of our decisions on “the big sky theory”. I think that era is just about to end.

I doubt it will be "illegal" to drive gas powered cars in the US.

Rather, fuel and licensing will increase.

That’s certainly a possibility. My thought is they’ll just make it so it can’t be licensed.

I can totally see Ca going that route due to a CARB recommendation, or requiring an ethanol fuel... i cant see the rest of the country going that route in that short of a timespan. We in socal see tons of turnover in vehicles, i doubt that happens as much outside of the major metropolitan areas here (someone else can chime in with more knowledge than me).
