Vibration After New Exhaust
First off, this is my first post on here after looking around for awhile. My wife just purchased a new 2015 Camaro SS Convertible, and I have made my typical mods to it (headers, CAI, and axle back exhaust). A muscle car just isn't right without some muscle and the sound to match it. The problem I am having is after I installed the axle back exhaust (Borla Stingers) the portion of the exhaust right above the flat support bar is vibrating against each other. There is probably only about a 1/4 inch of clearance between the exhaust pipe and the support bar. My question is what can I do to stop the vibration? I have tried repositioning the axle back exhaust but can't seem to gain anymore clearance. Is there some kind of anti-vibration device I can place between the pipe and the support bar? I put a couple of wood shims in between just to verify this was the issue, but that is obviously not a permanent fix. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Update: Was able to solve the problem using washers as spacers (many washers), but there is no more vibration. Last edited by Dobeman2000; 08-28-2015 at 10:35 AM. |

Just pull it off. I cant even remember how long ago it was when i took that cross bar off. At least 2 years and no issues. havnt noticed the difference except for a rattle free drive.

You can add spacers under the "support bar" to give the exhaust a bit more clearance. Its a well known issue here.

Exhaust tape. That's what I did cause my 3" stainless works cat back was vibrating on the brace. I also have the provided spacers for the brace but it was barley touching and making a very loud grinding sound. Exhaust tape made it all better

But an axle back doesn't effect that area of the exhaust as its only the rear section where the mufflers are

Hey Chris, when I bought my SS in 2010 I had the dealer install their performance axle back system before I even drove it. I've had a lot of people ask me if I have a Borla system. Can you tell us if Borla made the GMPP axle back exhaust dealers were installing?
