We're not getting the Camaro, but the dealer is going to supply us with a loaner until the Camaro is released.

Since the threads are now merged. I just opened my drivers door with my key for the first time ever today.

The door to the storage area never laid flat again. It was always slightly ajar. Ever since them I've equated recalls to breaking things. Now we get broken key fobs.
I remember when they did the 'interim' cruise control fire fix on my Mark VIII without asking me. Had to live without cruise for months. That sucked. Gave me a similar feeling about recalls, really.

Well that sucks, but it's better than no car. I free loaner i hope. The thing with loaners is that most of the time they still want you to leave a deposit and they give you the "you need to return it the way we gave it to you including gasoline"speech.

So if they are literally separating the key from the fob does that mean the new keys won't have transponders and the transponder for the ignition will remain in the fob? So in essence the car won't start without the fob present?

Same happened for me. My loaner is a new Malibu with only 16 miles on it.

A bit off topic but back when I had to scavenge junk yards for cheap parts for my crap cars, sometimes you would see a new item left in a junk car with a tag saying it was a recall part. Weird they have to account for every one.

Regardless, I'm inclined to just sit back and wait until after June 30 to see what new incentives GM offers. Right now, it's $1500. Hopefully it will go up.
That is the burning question. Theoretically they should ship new blanks to the dealers that have sold cars on hold..... My inside person at GM has no info as of this point unfortunately.

Got ours today. She's a silver beauty. 390 mile round trip. We're tired. Will post some pics up in the photo section in the coming days. I'll handle the key fob update at a local dealer once parts arrive. Once I get her broke in properly I'll turn the keys over to my wife since it's hers. What's the break in period again....20,000?

My dealer says the higher priority are the cars on the road because its a safety recall. Those of us waiting for cars are likely to be low priority.

Not sure why that'd be a higher priority since A: the recall letters haven't gone out yet and 2: the keys are ordered when they bring in the car to the dealer which I assume no one has.
