It's taken me awhile to remove the exhaust from my car and take pics, but this is what i found.
The car was installed with a 2.8 KB a few hundred miles after the LT's and high flow cats and cat back. The car drove fine for 7k miles before the crash. This is the driver's side cat.

The passenger side looks flawless. I'll be changing a few things on the next whale, but this issue needs to be fixed with only minimal miles to show this type of wear. I will not post who's cat's i have. The other products that company makes are stellar, and i will not bash over this.
I promised i would share, and i have.

Add me to the list of failed Kooks cats. I had no obvious signs that anything was wrong. I took the car to LS Fest. First thing I did was hit the dyno. It put down 629 rwhp. Took the car down the strip a few times. After the last run, I could tell something was wrong and the check engine light started flashing indicating a misfire. I loaded the car on my trailer and took it to my shop. A compression check showed I had lost all compression on cylinder 7. I've started taking the engine apart. When I pulled the driver side header, this is what I found.

I believe this may be the reason I had the engine failure. I haven't pulled the passenger side yet. Rediculous that a high performance part can fail so easily and looks like it's going to cost me a lot of money.

That's unexceptable right there. Sorry you had to go through that. I hope the bill to get everything functional again isn't too bad. It would really be nice to have more options for high flow cats. That's why I put my stock one's back on, with hopes they hold up better than the high flows.

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with solo high flow cats, only JBA. I can't remember if both companies have the same CAT supplier. I'll have to look back through this thread. Some others with solo CATS will hopefully chime in for you if they had any issues.

Hey guys back for another update. Firstly I'd like to say that we're sorry about the long wait and the dates being pushed back and I'd like to explain why. I work for the company that makes all of the substrates and such and instead of us sending out our cats to be coated by another company, we started our own coating company that will be used to sell and coat all of our cats. This gives us a much higher level of quality control and let's us have more control over what goes in the washcoat and the amount of precious metal that goes into them. It has been a long process getting the new company up and running, they had to build a whole other part into our building to be able to do this, now were pretty much ready for full production. It will not be much longer until these are coming out and will be a fraction of what high horse cats cost right now. If anybody has any questions at all, please let me know!

The real question, are the cats made of what looks like rolled cardboard like most of the failed cat's in this thread? Or are they made of an OEM type material (similar to ceramic).

Feel for you man. I had engine failure too. We couldn't figure it out, but new engine build got rid of CATS all together. Never, an issue now and I've killed the new engine into the 6k/rpm. ranges all the time.

I'd say this to anyone who's going to be doing any power adders especially with SC's / turbos, get rid of CATS' any blowback could destroy engine. Don't take any chances or you'll end up like me and a few others re-building or building new engine. As for CAT manufacturers, better check yourselves before you wreck yourselves. Karma's a bitch.

Btw, Kooks said the car was lean and that caused the cat to fail. They said it is not covered under warranty. After taking the heads off, I found the valves had bent due to piston contact. The Patriot Gold valve springs were defective.
