Dealer asking WAY over MSRP
I've been eyeing a Camaro 2SS at one of the dealers, through the Chevrolet site. They show a window sticker there with a MSRP of 38k & change.
I went into the dealer yesterday to take a look at what i hope to be my new ride, and they price listed on the car was over 43k. Seriously? No one was at the dealership yesterday, but I plan on going in in the next few days. I had been planning to offer MSRP -1000 to start. From what I've read, most Camaro's are going for MSRP in this area. Any suggestions besides bringing in what info I've found on the internet? |

If you get to the point of negotiation the first thing I would say is, "First thing that is going to happen is that silly markup is going away. Completely." Refuse to pay the premium.
If they refuse then get up and walk out. There are lots of dealers who are willing to work with you if they want to sell a car. The dealer is under the assumption that supply and demand are still in effect for the Camaro. It hasn't been that way for months. If all else fails place a call to Wilsonville Chevrolet in Oregon and talk with them. A couple of sales people have told me they won't sell the car for more than MSRP. That doesn't mean they won't try to add on things though. Good luck.

Your in Seattle. They are hard to find without the "NW adjustment". Which dealer was it?

Mikes in Issaquah. I ended up doing the deal, though for much less than what they were asking, but still a little over MSRP.
I'm ok with the small amount over I paid because they are holding the car for me till I buy it on the 8th. Test drove it tonight, and it was nice. Can't wait to drive it off from the dealer Though I'm sure they'll make more, this was the only Imperial Blue with Beige interior in the entire Pacific Northwest, and was pretty much exactly what I wanted. |

There are plenty of dealers that will ship your car right to you or you can fly in and pick up and drive it back home. Do that and Break it in right and put 1000 miles on it and have have a blast driving it back! There are two in my local area alone that do this one being the largest dealer in IL and they honor all discounts.

Think that markup is bad, my local dealership has a 2SS for $55K...I about fell off my chair when I saw it...they even listed it in the local paper like they were proud of that price. I ordered mine about half an hour away for MSRP and am loving it . I don't think paying almost $20K more would be as enjoyable.

I know Dave Smith Motors in kellog ID is selling Camaros off the lot at dealer Invoice. If you want to order one they sell it at MSRP. i just bought a GMC truck from them in October and it was a great experience. i went through Pete Vannett in sales. i don't want to sound like I'm plugging them but if they will sell at dealer invoice, no one should be selling with a premium

That's why you buy online or come talk to me.... If we advertised our lowest prices on the lot - there would be no room for negotiation.. Now, a dealer is in business to make a profit, but at the same time, if you know the right people, we can make that shrink a little.. INVOICE - HOLDBACK AND INCENTIVES NOW ON OUR CAMARO INVENTORY!
