Rock chips in the side gills vicinity

I don't drive my car all that often (2K miles in 5 months) and only in fair weather, but am already noticing more than a few chips along the side gills area. I assume this is more prevalent since the Camaro's hips flare out in this area allowing for a larger surface area to be a target for rock/sand chips. Are other people experiencing this? any suggestions? I really don't want to have to cover half the car in 3M protective rock shield, but guess if they're going to be driven, this is going to happen.

I detailed my car this weekend, and even with the quarter flares (splash guards), I had a stone chip near my gills. It was only one, but I think you are correct, this is an area that is prone to that.

I had a nice chip within the first few months and around 1000 miles on it. Yeah, it sucks. Need to pick up some touch-up.

Just hand-washed it for the first time this winter and had the chips on the gills too. It sucks.

Just got a couple on the driver's side gills this weekend. I guess it's gonna happen sometime, but it's painful to see!

I have quite a bit on my vents, what can we do to prevent and repair these?

Like you I only have 2k on Lola. I found two chips in the gills, a couple on the front facia and one on the hood. I am going in this week and have 3m installed on the front. I am not complaining but the paint seems thin.

Side gills are HORRIBLE for chips. Just gonna have to deal with it I guess.

Chips, shmips, this car justs wants to be driven.Drive it like you stole it! I've had my Camaro going on 10 months now and I haven't washed it once. If there are any chips.it's hard to see thru the dirt.

Even before I got the car I booked my car in for 3m. This is the best way to devend yourself against rock chips. I have done most of the car, except the side gills area

Got 'em, too.

I seen a car half covered in the clear bra stuff, you could check that out. IMO, I thought it looked like $hit though.

Must have been a bad install then. Because if its done properly with a good film you wont see it at all.
