Exhaust questions

Questions, Questions, Questions.................... Okay, here goes.......

#1. LTH are not legal in Ca. but what about Shortys?

#2. Would it be worthwhile to replace stock converter with High flow ones while maintaining stock headers? Yes, these are not Ca. legal as well but a lot easier and cheaper to replace out if needed five years down the road to pass smog.

#3. Does it make sense to Magnacharge vehicle if only other mods are CAI, resonator replaced with 11" Tru-X magnaflow muffler, comp series axle back, Stock headers and convertor?

#4. Does Magnacharger and tune void Vehicle Manufacturer Warranty?

Looking to make at least 400 RWHP and TQ. Current set up is 2SS/RS L-99 A6 with Superchips tune and AFM disabled. This Dynoed 322 RWHP and 335 TQ. A/F was 12.1.

On order is the Tru-X muffler to replace resonator and comp series axle back along with CAI Inc. intake.

Any and all advice appreciated

Re #1. ANYTHING modified before the cat conv is considered an emmissions mod and will not pass smog unless the item being modified has a CARB Executive Order "EO" or exemption. These EO's are not easy to come by and most aftermarket companies do not get one and let their customers take the risk at smog time. Make sure the mod you are doing has an EO if you intend to be able to get the vehicle smogged without having to remove it and re-install it.

This website will tell you what has been approved realtime:

Mindz right, my A6 dynoed at 358rwhp with CAI and cat-back exh, no tune.

Could be the dyno as well, they can be different from one to the other.

If you stay with the same guy, you should at least see the gains, then maybe take it to one of our local dyno days and see what you get!

Recommend any good tuners? I wasn't satisfied with these numbers either. Started a thread about it and got a response from someone from Superchips............
Quote:
That looks about right. Our stock runs showed our test SS making just around 300 RWHP. Your numbers look to be within the 21HP and 21TQ gains we received in our final tests.

Happy Holidays!

Scott
These numbers I would expect bone stock. Was hoping to see 330's with tune.

Engine only had 500 miles on it. Maybe needed more break-in time?
