worst vehicle you've ever driven
It's pretty simple.
I drove a golf cart once. It was much better than that Ford Focus I had as a rental. The seats were uncomfortable. It was slow. It looked ugly. It had a blue oval on it. There were tons of things wrong with it. I was so disgusted with it, that a review I posted on a Facebook application was removed for profanity. What's your worst driving experience?

My '87 Ford Tempo that I got in April of 2000 was the worst car I've ever owned. Before it, I had a '90 Ford Taurus that my parents bought in '94, drove for 4 years, then gave to me when they got a then-brand-new '98 Hyundai Tiburon. The Taurus was trouble-free for 6 total years before the motor suddenly crapped out. While it had been running fine before, it was going to need a lot of expensive repairs and overhauls very soon to keep it going, like a new transmission, plus new CV joints, so I decided it wouldn't be worth fixing, so I sold it and got the Tempo.
Big mistake. The Tempo was in the shop disabled 11 times over a 10-month period before I got rid of the thing. Name a part at random, and I'll be able to respond with, "Yeah, that broke." I was a dirt poor college student in my last couple of semesters and oh-so-close to finishing up school, and I really couldn't afford a decent car. I was thinking anything else I get will be an old junker as well, and if I can just keep this thing running until I get out and I can afford something much newer...when something else would break. So of course, with what I spent on the car itself and the subsequent repairs, I'd have been able to get something more reliable. Heck, I might have kept the Taurus running for that kind of money. I made a few bets and lost big. Live and learn, as they say. That was the worst car I owned, but the worst car I ever drove, as I mentioned in another thread, was an '80s Plymouth Turismo. I test drove one in high school. It was cheap, rattly, handled like a wheelbarrow with the wheel missing, and I had to literally stand on the accelerator to get it to move. Anything up to 3/4 of the way down on the gas pedal only seemed to only slightly increase the revs, but not enough to get the car to roll. |

Let's see, I've had a 1985 Jaguar and a 1996 Cherokee. I've driven my girlfriend's father's Camry, my Dad's 2000 Grand Cherokee and 2003 ML350, and a whole lot of ford and GMC trucks for the public school system back home. Of all of those, I'd say the worst was one of the trucks. I guess I've also driven my roomate's various SUVs (an old and new Explorer and a Blazer).
Some of the diesels at work were pretty bad and had no visibility. The bread trucks were also pretty crappy to drive. My Jaguar was a POS, but it was built like a tank. I raped a stop sign with that thing my junior year, and then the tree at the end of my driveway my senior year with the Jag, and neither caused any damage to the car. |

I like to do "detailing work" on the side for friends & family.
Years back, I detailed my Aunt's car. At the time, my 3 cousins were all under the age of 5. Not only was the car totally neglected outside, but the interior..... !!! It's understandable, trying to raise 3 kids that young, but WHAT A MESS! The "stuff" I found in the interior! And the smell!!! I know this is a little different than the original question, but in my mind, that car was the worst car I had ever seen or had the unfortunate experience of driving to be detailed. |

1990 Ford Escort, It had been totaled with the roof torn off and some sorry SOB got screwed by his insurance and had it fixed.. The welds on the roof where SAD, the tranny was so old I never had the fluid changed because if it was touched it would knock off all the varnished fluid and would leak like a sieve. No ac (killer here in az), the shocks where shot, and only 1 brake worked.

Toss up....
and these were all "new" at the time I drove them...(ab)used would have been far worse. '92 Geo Metro '95 Mercury Mystique '95 Mazda MX-3 '95 Mazda B2000 As for used ones.... My brother had an '81 Buick Electra with a V-6 in it...terrible car with no power and the A/C didn't work.... My buddy used to have a early-70's Dogde Diplomat (ex-cop car)...that thing was a tank, but an unbelievable junker. One of my friends in high school had a late-70's Maverick...what a POS. My aunt had a '90 Ford Aerostar minivan...what a Ford POS. |

Yeah, I had a '99 Mercury Cougar that had that same problem. Then it decided it wanted to start LOSING all RPMs when I slammed on the gas. That car pissed me off so bad, one day I just started kicking the crap out of it, quit making the payments on it and let the repo man come pick it up. That car SUCKED!!! When I think about it it makes me want to ! |
