Can I do better on this deal?

I have in writing from my dealership that I can have $400 below invoice on a new 2013 camaro 2lt guaranteed. Can I do better than this? Do you think $1000 below invoice is too much to ask?

Thanks for the help

Unless you are set on a '13, there are a ton of NEW '12s still looking for a home that are deeply discounted.

I feel like these '12s are like the animals at an animal shelter. Trust me...if I had the money, I'd make sure they all had a home.

Ok so she came back and basically shot my 1000 below invoice out of the air. How do I counter so that I don't lose the upper hand? lol

$400 below invoice on a 2013 is a good price. Don't think you will get much better then that unless you add private offers on top of it.

Are you saying you got $3500 off a 2013 Camaro?

I do have the $1000 and hoping somehow they can add in something for the fact mt grandfather worked for cadillac for many years and also maybe something for college student discount. The latter are probably one or the other or based off of the standard price

Ok so I just recieved an email and got $500 below invoice I feel it was a slight victory because I got an additional $100 off. In addition to this when my car arrives I'm sure there will be a $1000 private offer available and hopefully the love it or leave it $500 rebate. My trade in is a 2002 Cavalier with 142k miles on it and paint damage so I'm really not expecting much from that. I told the online rep I would be in to set up the order on Friday.

Should I just do the 500 or place my entire down payment on the deposit on the car?

There are two types of invoice. There's the one you get when you do a build on one of the web sites like www.cars.com Then there's the dealership invoice which they show you with add on's like advertizing fee. Claming this is what they pay. If that's $400 below invoice you got from web site , grab it and put it in writing. Make sure you write down numbers , do not word it $400 below invoice. Once you have it in writing , order the car. While you waiting for the car , now is the time to look for private offers , incentives , rebates and financing if needed. Any discounting will be done from price you agreed on plus taxes , license and documentation. This is the way its done. If dealer doesn't agree to this , find another dealer.

I was given $500 below invoice because I refused to pay the $499 dealer fee. I was also given a list of the other fees that I will be charged with. I asked if I had them in writing and was sent multiple emails with names, times, and dates saying "you have it in writing."

(Seems you like you've got a handle on things!)

As far as your deposit question, I personally, would put down the minimum that they require. If it's $500, that's what I would give them.
