Experences With Underdrive Pulleys

I have read many posts on the pros and cons of underdrive pulleys here and on ModernCamaro and have determined that these two are of interest:

Fluidampr Harmonic Damper vs SLP Balancer/Underdrive Pulley

What are your experiences with them and why do you prefer one over the other?

I shopped around online and the best price I found was at Jannetty Racing Performance Parts.
For$263.44 delivered to Colorado they offer 2010-2015 Camaro SS SLP Underdrive Pulley & Balancer Assembly **SPECIAL W/BELTS AND CRANK BOLT**

Maybe a coupon somewhere too.

O'Reilly's Auto Parts has for use both the Underdrive pulley/Balancer Remover & Installer.

I have the SLP.
Took it to 3 different places, nobody could install it but a GM dealer.
I did not notice a difference after the install, but who would notice 3-7 HP on a 400+ HP vehicle?
I did get it from Jannetty, with the special. It is a pretty good deal.
Installed it this time last year, no issues so far.

I got my SLP from Marylandspeed, while I dont notice the small HP gains either, they all add up. CAI, headers, Yadda yadda yadda I went for full bolt-ons. and after it was all said and done I certainly noticed the HP increase.

I did have to bump up my RPM's to 675 from 550 to keep the electrical system happy. other than that no complaints. The installer wasnt so happy to install it, he said it was a PITA

Back in the day I installed a set of March underdrive pulleys on a TPI motor. This was the alt pulley, water pump and crank. I installed them along with a hypertech chip and a BBK TB. I noticed a nice butt dyno increase.

Ever since I moved on to LSx cars, I have heard nothing but mixed reviews and lots of bitching about the install. In my opinion, from the intel I have gathered, I feel that an underdrive pulley is last in line amongst the other bolt ons.

SLP / Powerbond pulleys are the same pulley, and the only one I'd recommend accept the obvious & awesome ATI.

Stay away from ASP pulleys. Absolute junk.

The only time I had an issue was at idle for long periods of time, like around twenty min. Stop lights and normal driving, I never had a voltage issue.

Hey I just read about another option to keep the crank from rotating when removing the old crank bolt and installing the new crank bolt.
This works with a 6 speed manual transmission:
  1. Put the car in 4th gear
  2. Set the park brake
  3. Chock the tires to keep them from rolling
Sounds like a reasonable procedure.

I went with the more expensive Fluidampr for its quality, and it only under drives one belt, and had local mechanics install it. I have read about a couple failures of the slp balancer /udp with separation.... where as the fluidampr uses fluid and has been making them for a long long time. And if you get the fluidampr the instructions state a belt of such length and then give a gates number that is wrong to get that appropriate length which is the right belt to get//// good luck from a old hot rodder with a big cam, and who wants to make sure vibration is kept down.....

I have a powerbond udp and agree with this ^^! The only other time I had an issue was when I had a huge stereo system and had it crunk up it would obviously pull hard on the charging system. It was over 2000 watts!

Vendor For A Crank Torque-to-Yield Bolt

I found the crank torque-to-yield bolt a couple of places:
Speed Engineering - GM LS3 Harmonic Balancer Bolt - $12.09 + shipping
GM Parts Direct - Bolt 11570046 - $7.59 + shipping
GM LS3 Harmonic Balancer Bolt M16 X 2 X 125.75mm - $12.09 + shipping

Anyone have a vendor for this crank torque-to-yield bolt they trust and recommend?
