Nice. How did the tape hold up? I would consider doing that if I needed to go on a trip

I would have plastidipped the front bumper and peeled it off at the end of the trip. That tape job seems like tedious work man :/ Resourceful nonetheless! Here's a panorama I took while on Blue Ridge Parkway

P.S. If you want to donate that old splitter to the SnoopyAce foundation, we'd gladly accept

It was tedious but didn't take nearly as long to do as you'd think it would. Maybe a half hour.

Haha yea I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the splitter yet. It's pretty beat up.

But will plastidip prevent rock chips? Or will the rock just cut straight through the plastidip and still chip the paint?

I'm curious, 'cause this sounds like something fun to do for trips

Nope. That was Utah I think. We didn't go through New Mexico.

I'm wondering the same thing. I still worry about being able to just peel it off with no residue or anything...the tape was easy and didn't leave anything. And only cost a few bucks.

Plastidip cures as a rubber coating (a pretty durable one after a few coats especially). I'd assume a rubber coating would be more protective against rocks than tape which is basically paper with an adhesive backing. Both are good options for temporary paint protection, but I guess it's just a matter of preference. At about 5:40 in the video he hits it with a pressure washer and nothing happens. https://www.dipyourcar.com/pages.php?pageid=1

Denis, maybe you can get the mods to change the title to your thread. (since all the folks want to talk about tape)

What ever you do never use that Road Wrap crap. I put it on my car for the drive from LA to Phoenix. Driving through the desert sand and small rock got under it and scratched the paint. Some of the Ventura guys use a spandex bra. Doesn't look bad and it works. They used them on the drive to Super Chevy show last month.
