If you have a hard time measuring "that", maybe you should forget trying to do this.

Leave it to the Pro's.

I'm not sure what the 29 inches is measuring. Is it the entire length of the pipe?

Yes, but measured from the center like this:

Btw, that picture was taken before it was measured, cut down, and capped off. So this is longer than 29" pictured there.

This is how it ended up:

And the added pipe is tacked to the muffler to prevent any rattling.

to measure it, it seems like it would be easy to just take a 29" string, and lay it across the pipe, then mark it.

Measure it like you want to. Believe me, it's not that critical. 28"-29" will be fine.

you can also put a short piece of slightly larger pipe on the end with a clamp, and have tune-ability, similar to what solo does.

Ah so you can just torch the stock exhaust pipe to make a hole and attach the helmholtz pipe to the hole. Also, the capping of the ends is absolutely necessary?

Thanks for explaining the measurement btw

Yes, the capping is absolutely necessary. And you can make the hole in the stock exhaust and attach the helmholtz piping, but we put it in the MRT itself so it's all one piece.

I don't believe the curved pipe inside the stock muffler is capped off, like a true Helmholtz chamber should be. Interesting concept, though.

Don't try to make rocket science out of this stuff. It's really simple; just bouncing sound waves back into each other to cancell out the offending frequency. KIS

Thanks Saint Alban. This seems easy enough for any exhaust shop to pull off, provided I give them the details and pics. Next on my mod list for sure!

I got 2.5" pipe. Summit only had that size in stock. So I went with it. We will see how this works work. Using a little larger pipe. May be able to shorter than 29".
