Ford Shelby GT350R sets 7:32.19 Nurburgring lap time
Looks like the Z/28 has some stiff competition.

Awesome time, 5 seconds faster than the Z28, but I dont think the Z got a fair shake with its track conditions. Kudos to Ford, still a long way to go to catch up with the Zr1 and Viper, but still impressive. I bet the new Gt is going to be sick as well.

OK, so this is the same old article that's already been discussed. There is still no official time from Ford or video to back up the claim.

Should be an official time somewhere because if not I dont think that article would have been published. A loss is a loss, you may have to learn to live with it.

Many of these blogs "publish" anything. They don't pretend to have journalistic interests, only goal is to get more clicks then the day before. This is the same story from January that has has been discussed. No source was ever identified and Ford never substantiated the claim. True or not this is a rumor that started with horsepowerkings or whatever they're called these days. Well known for this nonsense. If it turns out to be true then sweet!

I'd be a little disappointed if it didn't beat the Z/28. Its a brand new generation car vs. an outgoing generation car. Given the choice at this point in time i'd rather have the GT350R (which i'll never afford anyways).
With that said. I'm calling BS until Ford releases the time themselves. Which they never do... so.... |

Ya, my ZL1 did the ring in 6:52.3 minutes. I have nothing to back up this claim as it is the internet .

You realize that's almost like saying a 2014 Mustang GT loses to a 2015 Mustang GT on a road course and people need to learn to live with it. I mean yeah it does lose but big deal since it should. One car is on a brand new chassis and platform while the other is out of production. If anyone believes a certain car is just going to sit apon a performance mountain top to never be challenged by new cars then they are fooling themselves. Think about what our performance cars would be like if there was no competition and no new generation of car/chassis couldn't be better than the old out of production competition.

I honestly dont care who is fastest, I just put the article up after I saw it and didnt expect to get blasted by the Camaro homers. Both the Z/28 and GT350R are great cars IMO. |
