Question Thinking of selling my Camaro ?!!

Hello my fellow Camaro lovers! I might get some crap for this post but I need some advice. First, has anyone sold their 5th gen Camaro? If so, do you regret it? I love my custom made 2012 Bumblebee Camaro SS but part of me says it's time to cash out and upgrade to an exotic or something else. But another part of me says it is my first ever sports car so it's sentimental. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Advice?

~M

I would be getting a used Audi R8. I just absolutely adore that car.

R8. All day. I'd trade the ZL1 for one in a minute.

Very hard to sell a used 5th gen right now as the prices are generally not far enough off a new one for people to justify buying used, and even if they want used the market is saturated. If you can manage to get a buyer for a good price and you've had your fun with it, definitely go for it The hard part is getting out, you could get back in and get another easily if you ended up having regret.

Maybe it's just me, but going from an SS to an R8 is a huge leap, not only in price, but in the type of car. The SS is NOT an R8, but obviously if you can afford it, you'll be able to afford the additional upkeep and, likely, insurance and other incidental costs.

TL/DR; It depends on what you want to get out of the car. Figure that out, and decide whether the Camaro meets that, or whether you're just momentarily bored and looking for something to satiate that boredem.

I sold my Camaro in March 2013 and stepped into an M3 - arguably a car with a more well-rounded sports car experience, and certainly more "exotic" in a sense. While the M3 didn't have the straight line speed my Camaro had, it was no slouch and it definitely would come out on top in a cornering exercise. In the end though, after 6 months and 5k miles, I decided the M3 wasn't for me and traded it in on a 1/2 ton.

Do I regret selling the Camaro for the M3?...No, as it was a good experience and I learned that a small two-door German sports car, at least for me, isn't an option for a daily. I'd take one as a second car, though.

Do I regret getting rid of the M3?...Not for a second. The German made sports cars are definitely an experience. I don't know what your financial situation is like, but owning a German is not exactly...economical. And when you're stepping into a R8, it will be an even larger jump from a domestic.

In the end, no one can answer your question for you. We can only provide our experiences and our thoughts during the process. Decide what it is you want to get out of your sports car. Does the Camaro fit that, or are you just bored? Will you get bored with the R8, and find yourself in the same situation a year later? Changing cars frequently can be a slippery slope if unchecked - ask me how I know, as I'm considering trading the 1/2 ton in on a 3/4 ton diesel after only a year of ownership.

Any reason you would limit yourself to just one car? Keep the Camaro and add to your stall.

Excellent point everyone! I actually have the Camaro and a 2011 Audi A4 Premium Plus. So I am familiar with German engineering, specifically Audi. The main reasons I would sell the Camaro would be to have money in the bank and some money as a down payment on the R8. Unfortunately I can't afford (at this moment) to have both the Camaro and the R8. Maybe I should just learn to be happy with what I have. Which is hard for me because I get bored easily :( le sigh.

First world problems. Lol

I have been trying to sell my 2013 2LT/RS for several weeks now at what I feel is a really good price for someone to get a great car but have had very few inquiries. The market is saturated and you won't get anything near what the car is worth. I have tried the trade in route too but most dealers I have gone to tell me they will only give me what they could sell the car at auction. Carmax offered $22,000. My Camaro looks brand new and has the Certified warranty, only 12,000 miles, but still no takers. I think if you try to sell you will be disappointed in the price you end up getting. Good luck! Funny I went from a German made Porsche Boxster to the Camaro. The Boxster is a great car but definitely not for a daily. The Camaro is a little more practical but not by much. I am probably going to a Subaru Outback just for the practicality of it here in Utah with the winters and the mountains. Camaro's are an awesome vehicle and they look mean.
