Does your power train warranty matter to you ?
Well I know that it just got asked who wants a stock ZL1,so if your going to mod it or have already, let us know what you did and the out come if you went to the track or not...If you modded it the warranty issues speaks for its self..
I ended up with a little bit between 640-650 on a completely pump gas tune, and more when we tuned it for race gas just for JP...my list of mods are posted in the sig..the warranty doesnt matter to me,although I am able to still get repairs done through my dealer thanks to fastlanes relationship with them...But I havent had to warranty anything yet...

I thought you were selling your ZL1? Did you change your mind?

It did matter to me at first. I wanted to keep it long enough to see if any of those major problems crept up. Almost 19k miles now, think I'm safe, also thinking it might be time to blow the warranty out of the water before the track opens in March.

Does not matter to me. For me every repair is a mod or upgrade.

On the SS I had I didn't care but on my ZL1 I want to keep it stock. These are much more rare and I've blown a motor or two before and don't want to deal with that again lol....

Mine is my DD and I drive approximately 30-40K miles a year so the warranty is important to me. So much so that I purchased extended warranty as well because without my car I can't drive which means no income. While the loaner/demos aren't optimal it's better than no vehicle. My contract for my job has vehicle stipulations in it so I've only got my car for 3 model years then it's on to the next one. I've got enough coverage to last my contract but during that time I'm going to enjoy every minute of my ZL both on and off the track. I'll be modding my car but only to the point it doesn't effect my warranty.

Does your power train warranty matter to you ?
I know this is a ZL1 thread but I tuned my SS at 4k miles, what do you think? If I had a ZL1 I would do the same.
I look at it this way, if something breaks I'll build it bigger and better! Sent from my 2SS/RS Last edited by nyrfan; 12-17-2013 at 07:41 AM. |

No, I'm willing to enjoy my car that much more for those 80k miles.

Nope and I bought a 5 year extended. Should still cover A/C and more. Already went through a battery replacement. End result of that trip to the dealer was every tech and salesman checking out the car and commenting to the point that I bet "marginal" warranty issues might get taken care of. Mods in my sig make this a completely different car and could easily be a DD if needed. Worth every bit of enjoyment to blow the power train warranty.
She's no longer a virgin but a better ride than ever before!
