Twin Fuel Tank Setup

I need a vendor here who can help make this happen.

I want to have an additional fuel tank and be able to switch between the stock and the second tank.

The stock one will be used for low(7-10) psi on pump gas and the other for when you flip the boost controller switch to high(11-18 psi) boost with race(VP 109 or C16) gas.

What would be the best solution for this? Maybe add another pump in the tank to supplement the stock unit and add a fuel cell with a single A-1000 or triple pump setup?

Nelson racing does setups like that, but I think they charge $$$$$

They are here in SoCal so I gave them a call on Wednesday but have not received a call back. Did not see them at SEMA but they usually go so maybe they will call sometime next week. I have seen some of their builds with two tanks but they use a stand alone pc to control everything.

I am thinking maybe relocate the battery and use the spare tire well for the extra tank.

If you can afford all that work, you can afford C-16 all the time.

C-16 Will work at 6psi boost!

The camaro is a dd street car with weekend track outings. It makes no sense to drive around in C16 all the time plus getting race gas imported over there is not the easiest thing in the world.

How much would it cost to do? 1K, 5K etc.?

Depends on the power level...My estimate would be 5k+

Maybe run e85? or use a meth system, with a built low compression motor you should be able to run 18 psi on pump gas with a meth system or on E85. But Im no expert just my opinion. I always thought those dual tank setups were for people wanting over 1000whp, if thats not what your after then I dont think you need it IMO.

Nelson Racing Engines is very hard to get a hold of. Always busy, but worth it. Anyway, here is the Octane-on-demand system we put in to the SST Camaro.

Twin tanks - One 93, One C-16. Can both be filled with C-23 for crazy boost.

Built in Pumps and filters. This is the A1000. The other tank has the A1004.

Here is what they look like mounted with the access portals.

The explanation of the components used and how the system works is in post 101 of the SST build if it helps at all.

That's for both tanks right? Even on low boost I don't think the stock pump will be enough.

Talk about go big or go home.

I was thinking something a little more simple. Stock tank with twin pumps plus an additional tank in the truck with the A-1000 or something like that.

If you don't mind me asking how much was it? You can pm me the price if you don't want to post it here.

BTW, who built it?

The Camaro currently has a built 416 with p&p heads, cam, headers etc. But, the heads will need to come off to put the stock heads back on and use a thicker gasket to lower the cr to 9.2:1. The ported heads were milled to raise the cr for n/a before thinking about f/i.

There is no E85 anywhere around these parts. Whatever she can handle on pump gas will be low boost. Then high will be on race gas(100, 109 or C16 those are available on a limited basis at the track).

The TT should do well just have to decide which one to get(Hellion, IPS or TTi). Not stuck on any hp or psi but rather ET. Just need to get at least into the 9's.

I started researching as soon as you posted that. It looks pretty straight forward. It is a drop in cell for any car. So, just add the pump, filter, lines etc. to complete.

Probably with have the cell made out of metal(aluminum, stainless steal etc.) instead.

Your setup is pretty basic.I would just suggest a duel intank pump setup and a good methenol system. We have many low 9 second vehicles running this setup. When they go to the track they just add some 104 unleaded for added safety.

I would stay clear of Nelson racing for awhile. Have a few customers waiting for parts and have been for 1-2 years. There are other good shops out there that would custom make anything for ya.
