This is what I was thinking too...

They'll probably invite the preorders out to drive their cars... which i think is freakin' cool

Wait, you're from LA and don't feel safe in Houston (Harris County)?

Jeez, it's not that bad here. What part of Houston were you in?

Driving ANY customer "pre-ordered" car without their permission will be a major blunder. As a long time Corvette owner I can tell you from experience this is one the biggest blunders any dealer can make and will create all sorts of ill will towards GM and the dealer doing it.

And please note I said "without the pre-order owners" permission. If they agree let's do a few burn out to really show what the new Camaro can do and while tyey are out let's cruise a few drive-in's and get some french fires and a shake. It'll wipe off.

I just got this letter as well

Scheduled for late April, your North Texas Chevy Dealers will conduct a unique caravan event, featuring the highly anticipated 2010 Chevy Camaro. More than 40 brand-new Camaros will parade across the Metroplex as a prelude to one of the most exciting vehicle launches in recent history.

Scheduled to start in and around Victory Park in downtown Dallas, television partner WFAA-TV, Channel 8, will provide coverage throughout its morning show and will bid farewell to the Camaro Caravan as it begins its journey through selected destinations around Dallas.

The Camaro Caravan will continue its westward trek — via police escort — toward Fort Worth, targeting iconic destinations along the way. The Camaro Caravan is scheduled to end in Sundance Square, where the vehicles will be parked.

As the Camaro Caravan route and additional details are confirmed, your North Texas Chevy Dealer will provide you with updates, so you, too, can catch a glimpse as Camaro overtakes the Metroplex.

I spoke with a knowledgable dealer this morning. The cars that will be driven in the caravans are part of the non-production cars (V6's only)that are being built and used as training vehicles, dealer test cars, etc. with different VIN prefixes than the pre-order cars. He also told me that after the parade he would get 2 of these cars (random) and that they would go on sales at his dealership on May the 8th. With a few miles, but like new warranty etc.

Is there a date released for this event yet? I heard about it on the radio and missed the date and can't find any information about it on the internet except for this discussion board!
