Engine and trans removal, out of the bottom or out f the top

Getting ready to swap the LSA engine into my 2010 SS in a few weeks.
I have both a lift and a hoist. Just wondering to those that have done it; is it easier to pull the engine out of the bottom or from the top?
Leave the trans connected or in the frame?
Thanks!

Way easier pulling out the bottom. No comparison.

Being you are in texas i would have andy at adm install it. They have that down to a science. He can tune it and everything. May even make you a deal on your old setup. Doing it yourself is fun. But it will take some time if you have never done it before. Lots of steps to do. But doable. Check out some of there builds. There are a bunch of pics usually.

It's installed from the bottom.

If you have a lift, remove it from the bottom.

I don't have a lift so I put the car on jackstands with the rear higher than the front and removed the engine and trans together from the top. With the rear higher, once the engine/trans is free, it all comes out much easier than if the car were level.

Do it from the bottom, easiest engine and trans we have ever pulled, if you have a lift then its super fast.

I had to do it the hard way since I didn't have a lift, but it wasn't that bad. I took the transmission out and then the engine without the clutch out through the top. Didn't have to take the hood off.
