brake dust

I'm getting an excessive amount of brake dust from my Brembo brake pads on my 2011 2SS/RS camaro. Has anyone found a cure for this? Maybe ceramic pads ?

Ceramic pads will solve the dust problems, but on city drivers, tends to wear out the rotors quite quickly.

There are a couple of wheel cleaners that have repelling properties to help keep the wheels as dustless as possible. I don't use them so I can't help with the name of them. I wash mine enough that it's never an issue for me.

Brembo's are notorious for dust. It's the nature of the beast if you want quality brakes. I use Meguires all purpose wheel cleaner and a soft bristle brush. Clean the rims 2x a week, car once a week and wax. Going to ceramic will help but yes, they can damage your rotors. Plus, they don't grip as well under severe braking. Try AutoX and see. Carbon would be a great upgrade but $$$$.

If you have polished or painted wheels, you can wax them just like the rest of the car. I keep a MF towel in the trunk just for the wheels if they're getting too dusty between washes.

I do the same thing with my MF towels.

I switched to Hawks ceramic pads. HUGE difference! The dust on the IOM of the rim was a pain, but I'd say it's about 50% less.

Ceramic is great for cutting down the dust, but you're correct, they destroy rotors in city driving!

I use Collinite Insulator Wax on my wheels, it makes them much easier to clean off the dust.

No more brake dust for me. Dust doesn't stick to chrome.

I had ceramic brakes put on the rear wheels, had a hard time finding the correct pads for the front for a few weeks. The difference in brake dust was shocking. My rear wheels cleaned up fine with some spray wheel cleaner and a couple of paper towels. The front wheels was a different story, so much dust that I had to use water to clean them.

Get ceramic brake pads, the brake dust build up is like 80% less than the OEM pads.
