............my MyLink crashed/reset while I was driving earlier today. Third time this has happened since I got Fiona. It's not really an issue so much as an inconvenience. The system starts right back up again after it crashes, it was just a pain because I was on a call using Bluetooth when it crashed.

Before it crashed/reset this is what the screen looked like:

So you can see I'm on the Nav screen, but instead of showing the map it shows the last image that the backup camera captured.

I'm hoping I can find out from one of my super awesome dealers *cough*Becky*cough* what the latest firmware version is, if I'm a version behind then I'll update and see if that fixes the issue.

I know I could call the MyLink helpline to get the latest firmware version, but I wasn't really in the mood to bang my head against my desk for an hour. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it - the MyLink customer support is worse to deal with than XM's.

Couple updates before I head out for the Holiday.

CAI Inc. sent me a replacement for the MAF sensor piece. Bill was absolutely great to work with - he must have apologized a hundred times. I'm not in any rush to install it (I mean I want to, but it'll have to wait until after the Holiday). Here's a side-by-side of the original one and the replacement. You can see on the original piece where the MAF area wasn't trimmed all the way (inside left side).

I also got a package from Roto-Fab As you guys know I'm adopting Doc's Blue Angel strategy to my ZL1. With that in mind I wanted to drop the heavy (and ridiculously large) OEM windshield washer fluid container. I went with Roto-Fab's for two reasons:
  • It's not only smaller, but it's also located closer to the windshield. So I save weight by removing some of the extra hose routing.
  • They call it the "Plan B" ww relocation and the guy in me chuckles at that every time.

I will mention though - and this is from installing an Injen CAI in Kaylee when I first got her - you don't need to pull the wheel and wheelliner to remove the windshield washer reservoir. Well you don't need to on a SS anyway. Not sure if the ZL1's belly pan will make the removal more difficult - I don't think it will

It's my Christmas present to myself, so I won't open it up until Christmas. But I'll more than likely be doing something similar to what Doc did (see below)

I've also got a few other things I'll be installing after the Holiday too

I purchased some 1.5" thick Insulfoam 84Z2 from Home Depot (or Lowe's carries it too I think) and cut a piece to put under the battery to lift it up high enough so the stock retaining plate could be used. I cut another piece which I notched in the middle to fit the battery so it would hold it in place and put that on top of the battery, sandwiching it in so when I put the retaining plate on top, it would press down the foam and secure the battery. The battery is secure; it doesn't move.

This arrangement allows you to use all the stock mounting plates and holders for the trunk.

Here's a few pics to show how it looks.

This view is looking down from the top from the back of the car.

This is from the passenger side at an angle.

This is a side view from the passenger side and you can clearly see the cutout in the top piece of foam that holds the battery in position so it doesn't scoot forward or backward.

Alan sent me pictures of my mirrors - FINALLY!

Hopefully he'll be able to get them shipped out by the end of the month and I can install them!
