Best DRL/Fog replacement bulbs?

I'm in need of new bulbs for my DRLs/Fogs. What is the best bulb that I can get. I'd like a white light that is bright (but does not melt the light assembly) and will last at least a year.

Also, I plan on rewiring them to a relay and to a switch inside of the car so that I can control them.

Ideas?

Which bulbs do I want for a 2012 2SS? Does this car use the same bulbs as the RS?

What is the main difference between the PSX26W11 and the P13W bulbs? Is it merely the keying on the plug socket? Can I just order the PSX26W11 and modify it if the plug does not fit? The bulb will fit in the housing regardless will it not? It won't get too hot will it?

Hi jgray1978,

See below for a diagram that shows the difference between P13W and PSX26W.
You can "force fit" a P13W into a PSX26W socket, but it won't fit quite right and you'll wish you bought the right type of bulb.

We sell them as well. PM us if you can't find our sales thread in the External Parts and Accessories section of the Sponsor's Classified.

Regards,

--Keith

Are you gen5diy.com?

I found the diagram that you showed and I guess that I'll go pull apart the fender well and look.

Are 11W bulbs good to use(vs. 7W or 6.5W)?

Hi Jgary1978, the more watt's the more light output, and your safe with 11 watt that will not melt the housings, its LED they dont get that hot.

Thanks. I ordered some 11W ones on your site. It says that they sell in pairs. I assume that the $57 was for the pair.

Received the bulbs yesterday. Superb!

Now I want to wire them to a switch inside of the car. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could get those plugs so that I don't have to cut the factory wiring? Also, any suggestions on a discrete switch?

I got some from Gen5DIY. The only reason they're not installed is that I'm waiting to finish my ABL install first.
