Cam gear question

My supplier grinds an ls1 ( three bolt ) cam for my ls3 .
They've offered to send me a new cam superquick , but being a custom grind I don't want my car in pieces for the week it will take to get the replacement .
Their quick solution is to use an 06 Vette 3 bolt cam gear and that would be acceptable .
Is this indeed acceptable ?
We did the springs today just need to decide on the gear . I'm pissed cause we are really busy . I set today aside to do this and now I've got pieces and a tied up service bay . The job went so smoothly a screw up like this was inevitable .
Please chime in , I'll have the gear in the morning and would like to proceed unless one of you tells me otherwise .
Thank you for your input , I'm anxious to go forward .

go forward.

most people do that anyways as it is, because they are more comfortable with 3 bolts holding the cam in, instead of just one.

what you are doing is indeed acceptable and is actually quite the norm
