In texas I don't believe they do a visual .. if you don't throw a code you should be fine. However if in the future you move to a state that does visuals as well (or if texas adopts it), then I don't believe you will pass ..

As long as all the sensors were installed, and you aren't throwing any codes.....you will be fine. A few of the guys in our club are running them and they pass with flying colors.....and they live in one of the strickest countys in the state.

I checked with my inspection place and they said that as long as Cats are installed doesn't matter.

I do state inspections and by law cats are required. A visual inspection is supposed to be done by the inspector to check for the presence of cats and various other emissions items. The law also states that whatever emission components came with the car originally, they're supposed to be there Cats are supposed to be checked visually on year models 1984 and up. If you have a pre 96 vehicle that requires the dyno and sniffer test there is no way you will pass the test. If your vehicle is 96 and up year model then it will fail if the check engine light is on as stated above. So if you dont have cats, you will fail the visual inspection. Does anybody do the visual inspection for cats? Not likely So, in short, You will fully pass the state inspection if you have headers, cats, and no codes.

Hope this helps, jrrod.

When you tune out the CEL do they dissable the rear sensors, or is it something different? I'm just wondering because if they hook up the PC it will show NOT READY and you fail correct? I'm wondering if most tunes will correct this and you will be good to go. I doubt the places will check to see if the cats are there when the car is a couple inches off the ground and very diffucult to see in the first place. Also, I've heard that even high flows will pass the sniffer test. Obviously we are a long ways away from being required (post 96'), but just wondering.

The tuner sets the rear O2 sensors to the permanent READY state. So, they aren't technically disabled.
