Talking ROLNSLO's Synergy Green SS

Guess it's about time to start this build journal for my 2011 2SS/RS, which replaced my 2010 1LT/RS.

Build date: January 13, 2011
Purchase date: October 1, 2011
Odometer at purchase: 104 miles

Build details:
1. 2SS in Synergy Green Metallic / Black leather interior
2. L99 with Automatic Transmission (Hydra-Matic 6L80 with TAPshift controls)
2. RS package
3. Silver rally stripes
4. CAMARO trunk mat

Didn't really want the stripes or the trunk mat but didn't have a choice if I wanted to buy a new SGM SS. Oh well...

At the time of purchase, this was the last new 2011 SS in SGM in Houston, TX. There were 3 other new ones within 500 miles still on dealers lots and only 11 remaining in inventory across the entire US.

Here are my plans for this one, to start with:

0. Swap over my set of (4) 20x9 RS wheels from my 2010 V6 [with 275/40/20 Hankook Ventus ST RH06 tires] - dealership already took care of this one.
1. Muffler delete - this thing is way to fricken quiet in stock form.
2. Remove Silver rally stripes.
3. Vararam air intake.
4. Rider Graphix Hood Spears - silver.
5. Rider Graphix fender gill decals - dark silver metallic.
6. MPD1 spoiler in Synergy Green.
7. LLumar Formula One Pinnacle Series Ceramic Window Tint (35% & 15%)
8. Cat-back exhaust - Need to figure out which one I like best still.
9. Who knows...headers, body kit, different wheels? Depends on excess fundage going forward...

For fun, I'm going to track my fuel economy with this Camaro, like I did with my last one. Should be an interesting comparison over time....

10/05/2011 402.0 miles 16.238 gallons ??.?? mpg
10/11/2011 649.0 miles 13.256 gallons 18.63 mpg <--- Muffler delete at 511 miles. Rally stripes removed at 534 miles.
10/12/2011 705.1 miles 3.266 gallons 17.18 mpg <--- Vararam intake installed at 702 miles. Topped off due to idle time after installing intake.
10/16/2011 886.5 miles 10.016 gallons 18.11 mpg <--- Must learn to keep foot out of floor...
10/19/2011 1184.2 miles 15.303 gallons 19.45 mpg
10/25/2011 1399.0 miles 12.482 gallons 17.21 mpg <--- Must put in D, not M.
11/01/2011 1684.0 miles 15.192 gallons 18.76 mpg <--- A little better. Left it in D most of the time.
11/07/2011 1947.7 miles 14.077 gallons 18.73 mpg

Muffler delete done today at Manvel Muffler - $120 to remove the stock cans and replace with straight pipe plus switch stock exhaust tips over to new pipes. Didn't really want to spend too much on the muffler delete since I know I'll eventually go with a cat-back system. It'll work for now but I'm going to start setting aside money for a cat-back system.

Sounds better now. At least I can actually hear the exhaust a little better. Still way too quiet for my tastes and a lot quieter than the SOLO Performance Mach XL cat-back I had on my 2010 V6. Going to have to rectify this lack of noise situation eventually with a full cat-back system. Even my wife said the muffler delete didn't go far enough in making this car sound louder like the way it really should. At least she gets it...

So far, AFM isn't bugging me when it kicks in. I can hear it better now than I could before but its not overly annoying (yet). Time will tell...

Next step is to remove the stock silver rally stripes and order up the hood spears instead. I really liked that look on my last Camaro and I think it helps add a bit of a different look from the front. Maybe a good Sunday afternoon project...

congrats sir.
What part of Houston are you in?
I'm in the Woodlands with a 2SS Green Machine.
If you head north, holler.

Near Pearland for now. Usually don't make it north of I-10 for some strange reason. Maybe I'll see you around town at some point. I'm trying to make it a point to hit more of the H-Town Camaro Club stuff going forward.

Picked up the no-tune Vararam intake today. Now I just need to find a few minutes to install it...

BigCarrot - Might see me around town then. If an SGM Camaro goes flying by or takes off from the stoplight quickly...it wasn't me...it was my wife driving it. (seriously )

Vararam intake installed @ 702 miles. No tune model.

I've got one word to describe it: SMOOOOTH!

Need to finish the miles for ECM learn time but I definitely like it so far.

Done with the performance related mods for a while. Cosmetic mods are next on the list.
