Very good question considering that recall stuff. Almost 4 years here and have never put it in the door handle

Personally I think there is something satisfying about turning the key and hearing that v8 fire - very muscle car. I the push button is nice but makes the car feel more like a gadget than a machine.

This, they cover the keyhole with a painted plastic piece so you can't see it. inside the Key fob there is a metal key that slides out. It can be used to manually unlock the doors and lock the glove box but not start the car.

Used it once...in four years.

I think the remote is not just convenient, its a damage reducer. While the odds are low that you'll scratch your car putting the key into the door, its still possible. With the remote, the possibility drops to zero.

Zero percent chance wins in my book.

I heard back from them when I sent a PM. They said it will be a few weeks for the new keys. I may as well tell the dealer I don't want it and get something else. I want the car now, not half way through the summer.

I feel your pain, as I special ordered my ZL1. Took one day less than 7 weeks to get it. I say just hang in there. GM wants to make money like anybody, if it's holding up sales, they'll get it done quickly. At least that's my opinion.

"Changing the key ring hole to redistribute the weight."
-Maybe we will get to keep our hidden "switchblade" key and it will just have a new end where the key ring goes/

Not the same recall, I believe. That makes no sense in our case. I read an article where THAT solutions applies to other GM cars, not the Camaro.

Not true, they do start the car, at least on jeeps.
