so i decided to push the engine for the first time

So i have had my car for a couple days now and it has 325 miles on it already. It seemed to be getting more peppy when i was getting close to 4k rpm. Only took it past 4k 3 times and it only made it to around 5k but the engine sounded good. So i decided to punch it around 75-85% throttle. Once i got to around 6k rpm the engine started to cut out and on again. So it would be going stop and go again. So i thought it was the traction control. So i pressed the traction button when i stopped and tried it again. The same thing happened again. Might there be something wrong or does the engine still need some more miles are is there something else i am missing?

i've never pressed the traction control button so i couldnt tell you anything about that...although i think i was stupid bc when i first got mine, it had about 250 miles on it and i had to drive 3 hours back home after i picked it...after cruising on the highway, i decided to kick a GT stangs ass and pushed it kinda hard...i dont think i shoudla done that, shoulda waited for more miles and to break it in a bit more

Just today I toke mine to 102MPH. I was coming home late. NO ONE ON THE ROAD! I was going 60, slowed to 50 droped to 3rd gear and put the hammer down. She was past 75 in a flash. I shifted to 4th and she headed for the tripple digets. I shifted to 5th then 6th just as she hit the 100 mark. Only stayed there for a moment or two, she was very smooth. I backed off and started to slow her down. Exit comming up and I need to get off the hiway.

I pushed mine a few times, even though I told myself a million times before I got the car that I would wait until 1500 miles. I spun out of a parkin lot and let the tail fly for a second. I also didn't hit over 4500 rpm until about 300 miles. I was full throtle hit about 100+... I couldn't see the speed because my DIC was reading 'Exceeded Limited Speed' lolz, I had it set at 75 but when I looked at the analog it was headed towards 100 pretty fast. I was too worried about cops so my eyes were on the road and rear view. I cannot believe I am sitting behind a v6!!! It felt as if the tires were no longer on the road. It is so smooth, my mom tells me everytime she sits in it that it feels like an airplane ride.

I tried gassing it and then braking to spin the tire (have an auto) and forgot to turn off traction control -- I didn't notice if the engine revs were cutting, but it felt and sounded like the back end was falling out, or like I was going over small bumps.

well try getting on it again and watch to see what exactly happens. you could be having a problem with your electronics or the fuel cut off. sorry i am not a mechanic so bare with me on the words also i know very little to what is actually put into these cars.

now on another note i have hit 120 in my car feels pretty damn good. now after saying that i remember a few times getting on it if i did not shift in time and hit the rev limiter it would cut off pretty bad that it would jerk me. does that sound right to you? if so then i think you have a problem with a sensor in or for the transmission and would not shift when it was suppose to.

?? not sure what that has to do with anything...

To the OP, it sounds like there may be something wrong. I definitely floored mine a handful of times right when I got it and my engine never cut out at any point in time. I had it up to around 140 before I chickened out on the first day I had the car too. I'd definitely take it down to the dealership.

"self"?...why ignore the break in period on a 30K+ car....just cuz?

New Vehicle Break-In
Notice: Follow these
recommended guidelines during
the first 1,500 miles of
driving this vehicle. Parts have a
break-in period and performance
will be better in the long run.
• For the first 1,500 miles:
• Avoid full throttle starts and
abrupt stops.
• Do not exceed
4,000 engine rpm.
• Avoid driving at any one
constant speed, fast or slow.
• Do not drive above(100 mph).
