15 Hours with 6833

So I have had her for 15 hours now. It is finally time to say enough for today and try to get some sleep.

In the past 15 hours, I have been glued to this car. 300 miles already. To say she drives great would not come close to doing it justice. I know there have been a ton of reviews and first impressions on here but I thought I would like to add my two cents.

The good:
The car fits like a glove. I am a bigger guy (250 lbs) and still fit comfortably.
The ride is quiet, save for the engine.
Handling is tight but not enough to make you have to force the car around curves.

The Not so good:
It takes a while to get used to lane changes. You have to be aware of the other cars on the road and really use the mirrors. No just glancing over the shoulder.
Getting into the back seat is a pain (not that I care).

A few words on the TAP shift.
When you drop into "M" you are actually putting the car in "Sport" mode. Hence the "S" on the DIC. The car will still auto shift through all the gears it will just hold the shifts longer for better acceleration. Once you tap one of the paddles however, you go into "Manual" mode. That is when an "MX" shows up on the DIC. (X is your gear 1 - 6). From that point on, you have to manually tap the paddles to shift up and down.
It works a lot like the tiptronic on my VW, just on the steering wheel and not on the shifter.

I know most of this has been said on this forum before. Like I said, I am just so excited about the car I just had to share my two cents.

BTW, mine is a 1LT/RS CGM with auto, C&C and Boston Acoustics.

Here's a pic. Sorry its a little grainy, I had to take it with my BB. My wife lost our camera at the lake last weekend.

How's the power? And what do you think of the Boston Acoustics?

This is what I'm worried about personally. When I was getting driving lessons from my step dad way back when I was always taught not to rely on your mirrors for something like changing lanes, and after sitting in the camaro at the dealership theres no other way to do it.

I'm just worried about ramming into a car thats in my blind spot!

There's a way to tweak the mirrors to allow you to shoulder through the windows and use the mirrors for the blind spots. I did it with the yellow 2LT I tested and it worked like a charm. I've been doing the same with the Exploder and it also works in that application.

I honestly don't see a problem with it. May cause jitters for the first few days but you'd get used to it.

Regarding Visibility, This will be (hopefully) solved by a full size, perfectly shaped to fit, gentle convex mirror, that replaces the side mirror. All my cars have the little round ones and I never have to look back, just glance and go. I will never put those on the camaro but that's what I's like.

That is what I did with mine. I think it really reduced the blind spot but like you said, it takes a bit to get used to it. It is the only part of the car I don't feel completely comfortable with while driving.

I think the power is very surprising for a 6 cylinder car. It doesn't have the pull I imagine the V8 will but it has the power to push you back in your seat.

I like the BA system. It has an auto equalizer for rock, rap, country, talk, etc which sounds pretty good. I haven't had a chance to tweak it exactly to my liking yet though. So far the sound is crisp and clean, even in the low and high ends. I personally think it was well worth the money for the upgrade.

I can't help but notice that you're in Austin... and we live in Buda!

we should get you and KK2010SS together and do a lunch or dinner sometime... I'd love to see your car up close since I've never seen a CGM car in the wild
