A Request In Regards To The Camaro Doors (photos needed)

Hey everybody,

I was wondering if someone could take some photos of their door on the Camaro and more specifically in where the door wells are. I'm very curious as to where the speaker wire passes through from the door into the cab, is it in a rubber adjustable tube or something?

Also, does anyone have any idea how difficult it will be to remove the component speakers? If you've already done this, I beg of you to post your results here as I would be soo grateful. Even if your reading this, have your Camaro already, I was wondering if you could inspect your doors and give me an idea as to how difficult this task may be.

I got a feeling that this will be the most difficult task in my stereo installation :( .

thankyou,

Shaun

DJ, many people have posted that replacing the head unit is going to cause alot of issues, as it also acts as the interface for the cars computer and has the AC contols integrated into it.
Some beleive that you will have to keep the factory head unit connected in the car, maybe hidden in the trunk just for the car to run (I think they sighted a few caddy's that this was done to). Try searching the threads for topics on replacing the head unit.

If you are only looking replace speakers, then that may be easy, just removing panels to gain access.

Just looking to replace all speakers and add subwoofers to the trunk of the car.

Speaker wires likely run up the center with the battery cable ( not under the door sills )

Check with Indpower. He could probably tell you exactly where the wires run in this car.

It is rubber tube. Attached with a fastener to the door. I think the body side may be a little harder to get to.

I think a better question is - if you look carefully at the door side, is it just a hose that goes into the door, or is it the end of a wire harness that connects to the door? Meaning you have to somehow add wires to the connector.

You might be surprised like I was to learn that some cars have a harness plug there (and not a hole) that makes it very difficult to get wires into the door.

Thanks very much for the photo! Your photo kinda also shows that taking off the door sides requires removing screws.... Is that a screw I see on the door (Allen wrench bolt head) ? I got my fingers and toes crossed that removing the inside door part isnt all that hard... hopefully.

I think this will be very easy to remove the door panels and get to the speakers. If you're only replacing the speakers, then you dont need to access the wiring harness. Just pop the door panel off, remove OEM speaker, install new speaker, wire new speaker up using existing wires. If you want to install after market amps, then it's gonna get interesting!

The rear speakers will be even easier as they're in the rear sill, and are open and exposed from the bottom, all you have to do is get the cover off from the top.

Good luck!
