Lots of mods and moving to Denver. Tips for good shops to help me get emissions ready
Short summary: built 416, blower cam, heads, rotofab, kooks headers, kooks hi-flows, corsa cat back.
I know for a fact that I will absolutely not be passing emissions in the current setup. Am thinking that I'll probably need a new cam and kooks Green Cats at a minimum. Anybody else in the Denver area with any experience on this? The car is, and will continue to be, my daily and hoping to get some tips for emissions, as well as recommendation on shops that won't mess me around. I also understand that I'll be losing a significant amount of power due to the elevation. Right now I'm at 465hp/460tq to the wheels. Any clue as to the losses I should expect? I'm leaving Houston and there are a couple of top notch shops here. Hoping to find at least one quality place not too far from the Denver metro area that I can call home for my stay here. Any tips? Suggestions? Looking forward to breathing in that Rocky Mountain air! Thanks |

You may be ok if your cam is not too radical. You don't list a blower on your mod list, if that's in your future it will make up for the altitude loss you will fee. I can personally recommend two good shops within a few hours drive of Denver if you like.

Thanks for the link MoreAir. Looks like I'm definitely gonna feel the difference.
AG454- please do let me know. The motor was built by a shop for the prev owner and refuses to give me specs under the guise of "custom cam and we don't want to give our specs out" but based on other builds by this shop I'm thinking that it might be a BTR stage 3 PD cam. If I look at the specs for that online, it seems like a fairly large cam albeit w a wide LSA. I'm hoping to find a shop with to discuss my options. The car also needs some maintenance work, and depending on the cost/benefit, along with how much money is available for everything after the move is complete, there are a few routes I'd like to consider. That's def one of the reasons I'd like to communicate with local shops up there, as opposed to my shop down here. Up there those guys will know what I am up against as far as emissions and will hopefully be able to get me on the right path. Much appreciated folks. |
