Really low dyno run

This pull was done in 5th gear on a Dynapack DP 4000.

This looks really low to me, considering I have Vararam, ported TB, and black ice-olator. What can I do to try to figure out what's causing the power loss?

A tune may help but that isn't 100% as your mod's aren't to heavy. Never seen a dyno done in 5th gear ever on any of the dyno types. Me personally don't like the Dynapack dyno's.

The reasoning for 5th gear was it is a 1:1 ratio. But I don't think this would affect hp/tq would it?

While I know it's possible the vararam won't show up in the dyno, I would expect to see some gains from the ice-olator and tb.

This was a baseline for a SC install, so a tune will be coming eventually.

I'm pretty sure that 4th is the 1:1 ratio on the V6 M6 right? Anyways....I've never seen a run in 5th gear and pretty sure setting it up for a run in 4th would return more normalized results.

Some limited googling returned results that had 5th gear as 1:1, if these are incorrect this could likely be why it was done in 5th gear. Unfortunately work already began so a new baseline can't really be done and it's basically required to do the follow-up in 5th gear as well.

Should I just ask for a pull in 4th as well and then compare the two before worrying about anything?

Up to you. If you can get them to do a 4th gear pull before you move on, then it might be worth it. The TQ numbers aren't real far off, a bit low. I wouldn't expect them to be significantly higher. But it looks like you peaked just over 220HP, so I'd expect around 30 to 40 more HP to be in the normal ball park range. HP should definitely be higher than TQ at redline.

no, 5th gear is 1:1 in the V6 M6, but to run it effectively, you'd have to have the car way up (100mph+) to have the RPMS up to the proper spot to dyno

Thanks for the update. I've looked up that info before, but couldn't remember for sure.

I know that 4th gear (at least on the auto) will run up to mid 140s MPH at redline....so unless you have a tune and the limiter removed, I don't believe 5th could be dyno'd correctly since you'd be bouncing off the limiter in the upper rpms.

Dynos have the capability for adjusting for a gear that isn't 1:1 don't they...or do they not? B/c most M6 runs here are in 4th, and most autos are done in 3rd.

My first dyno after getting the TT's installed was done in 4th and it red lined at 145mph. And since you already started with a baseline in 5th I would stick to it after the SC install. Like said in other threads the V6 is a difficult car to dyno for some reason. And it also requires the shop to have a VERY good dyno operator to get the dyno dialed in right for a V6. Some shops use the same settings as a SS or other cars which could be correct or not when it comes down to numbers.
