You do realize that you just answered a post that is 2 and a half years old? Most of these people have probably already turned their leased Camaro back in, lol.

Let's not draw conclusions about someone's character based on how often they trade in cars. I've been married for 13 years, yet I trade my cars probably once a year. I love cars and want to experience as many great ones as I can (love to do that with woman too, but way too expensive!! Haha). Does that say something about my character?

Hahaha, I just noticed that this is a 3yr old post!!

Lol... Son, +5, I love trading up to, except with a car when you trade up it doesn't take half your damn shit.

Leasing makes sense if it makes sense to you. Buying makes sense if it makes sense to you.

Personally? F**K leasing. I'll trade cars when I dang well feel like it whether it be 1 year or 10 years. I don't need a time clock or a finance company telling me that it's time to get rid of a vehicle or buy out the residual. I don't need to experience every car out there to like them. If I did, I'd buy them.

Its almost always better to lease a car because a car is a depreciating asset. There are only a few times where buying a car is more advantagous then buying:

1) you own a car for 7 years or more. (most people buy or trade in a car every 3-5)
2) you drive more then 15k miles per year
3) you want to modify your car

Here is a link for your reading pleasure on buy vs leasing.

http://www.leaseguide.com/lease03.htm

Please don't give people horrible advice.
I agree 100%!! I lease all the wife's vehicles because she gets a new one every 2yrs. The first Benz she got I paid cash for and it got totaled after 1yr and I did the math before we replaced it. And if it was leased the gap insurance was cheaper than what we lost just because of the depreciation after it drove off the lot. And even if it hadn't been wrecked and made it two years I figured what the trade in was compared to what I paid versus what I would have paid if it were leased and it was cheaper to lease. Plain and simple! I bought the gap insurance just in case and we are happy. Her GL-450 and her 650i are both leased and under full warranty with GAP and includes tires if needed and she always has a new ride. Plus service is included with zero deductible on leased vehicles.
Me on the other hand I buy them because I out too many miles on pickup and I mod the cars!

I have leased two vehicles in the past before buying my ZL1. If you go thru cars frequently new car leasing is an advantage. I use the optional extra mileage policy as I know I go over 10K a year! I purchased my ZL1 knowing I would modify it and not leave it stock and will keep it. If I want another car I'll buy a cheaper daily driver.

Better off buying...besides, I doubt they'll lease a ZL1!

Not true, way to many factors to make a blanket statement like that. I lease or buy, whichever makes financial sense. Bought the zl1, bought the 1le, but lease a lexus IS f sport.

Why? Residual for a 27 month lease was 72%. No way that car will be worth 72% of its MSRP when it's over 2 years old with 23,000 miles. Money factor was .9% vs 1.99 buying.

Believe it or not for those who paid MSRP for there zl1's and financed it, it would have been cheaper to lease and then buy it out than it would have to just buy.

The money factor is almost always lower on a lease than buying. You would basically save 1-2% on the apr for the period you leased.

Leases now a days are really structured nicely.

The other point is that you aren't really building much enquiry in a car that is depreciating at a similar rate as what a long term (7 years) loan would be. You can also build equity in a lease, it's just not a simple concept. Find yourself a lease with a low residual like a range rover and at the end of your lease you could trade it in or buy it outright and sell for more than the buy out, that my friend is equity. They are bad leases if you don't plan to buy, but they do generate equity in a leased vehicle.

And the point about insurance in the article applies to a purchased vehicle just as much as a leased vehicle. That's what gap insurance is for.

You can also extend leases.

Typically the better leases are when the actual manufacturer finances the lease. Mercedes= mb financial lexus= lexus financial services! bmw= bmw financial services, Audi = chase (shitty lease), range rover (some big bank, shitty leases)

I can't believe people think it would be tough to find a dealer to lease a zl1. Every zl1 bought could have been leased, it's just like any other car/truck

But yes, if the OP only wants to keep his ZL1 (the fastest camaro in Chevy history) for 3 years then I can understand leasing one. That being said, good luck trying to find a dealer willing to lease you one.
