Talking Killed a Maxima!

Went to the track and put a 2000 Nissan Maxima in it's place We got the same shot off the light, but my Nicky took it! Both brake launched and after 20 mph all I saw was him getting smaller and smaller Both cars are actually dead even on paper. 32xx and 237ish on Nissan mine with 240. Don't know the gains I get with muffler delete, plus I ran on 1/4 tank I have no clue how full he was. I'm still trying to burn up the dealers 87 oct they put in.

p.s. My car kept throwing my back end to the left about a couple inches at around 35-40mph. I'm looking into 255/50R16's Hoosier DR's for the track next time.

What was your 60' like? I'm thinking you should have a better ET than that and I think you are correctly assuming it is a traction issue.

If I remember right that is about what they do stock. Maybe it was just poor track prep. Your MPH is right up there where you should expect, so I'm pretty sure you have 15.2 at least in it.

There you go. Good tire's will get you down where you want to be. What will your next mod be? Come on, we know you won't stop with tires.

To be honest it will be expensive for what I later want to do down the road.. But I want to put a low comp ls3 for a supercharger. But other than that it's tires, gears, and torque converter.

The converter/gears would be awesome on the TPI. Get you launching in a much better part of the power band. Of course, that would be while you wait for the LS3 conversion.

Yep, the highest I would go on the converter is 1800rpm and 3.07 gears.

Do you mean 2800 stall? Remember, the sweet spot on these is around 3200 RPM, so the closer you can get to that at launch the better. Also, check the leaf springs. Those fiberglass ones tended to show fatigue after a while, so they may need to be replaced. Even with good rubber on it, you may have problems launching if the transverse springs are shot.
