Has any thought about taking the back seat out, for more gitty-up)
and if you did take it out, how much of a difference do you think there would be? but of course if you take out the back seat I'm assuming you could take out other things, but what?

Why would you want to take the back seat out to start with?
Only point i see in taking the back seat out is if you're going to race with it.. thus meaning you'll do a big overhaul on the car anyways.

Get a cold air intake... and a cat back exhaust... either of them will do more than a back seat could.

Go ahead and take the glass out and put in some plexiglass, take the hood and trunk off, take out all the carpet and the passenger seat, the console, oh, and dont forget about the super heavy emblems!!!! But make sure you put an AEM sticker on the front windshield!

Okay, that makes no sense at all...
But taking out the backseat is free. I would say taking out the back seat alone would be a total waste of time. If you really want to shave some weight, gut everything that is useless to you. All or nothing man. |

First, you might save 50 pounds including removing the belts.
Your trade off would be a 2 passenger vehicle, more noise from the rear suspension via the trunk which was previously sealed off and you'd be taking most of the weight off the rear axle which would reduce your traction so net gain would be just right around 0. Not that the 50 pounds isn't big when you add it to a whole bunch of other things. If you want to go full on mass reduction to the point where you would actually notice, you'd be fabbing parts (aluminum decklid, doors etc.). Eventually you'd spend the difference in buying a Corvette to do a real mass reduction program. Unless you just want to buy a brand new car and start pulling heavy parts off. Air condioning compressor, air bags, radio, carpet, insulation.........etc. Just spend a bit on some bolt on performance mods and exhaust as suggested, that would probably make a much mote noticeable difference. IMO

If anyone is ever considering buying this car and taking the back seats out please save yourself the trouble and just buy a corvette to begin with.

I agree removing back seats is nearly pointless for a street car. Besides there are much better ways of removing weight without sacrificing too much. If I wanted to lose weight I would follow these steps in order.
First thing right off the bat would be to go to a smaller diameter and lighter wheel. I'm thinking C5 Z06 wheels. Second thing would be a lighter exhaust system (doesn't save much weight, but if you are going to get an exhaust anyways it can't hurt) And finally I can't recall if the hood is already aluminum, but if not I would consider going with an aluminum hood. Maybe consider going with a smaller battery. Even with all that I'm going to say MAYBE you'll shave off 80 lbs. I'm guessing the biggest obstacle regarding weight for this car is the wiring. There is probably at least 100 lbs of wiring on the car, maybe more. So if it's that big of a deal make sure you get the least options possible. Might as well ditch the lame engine cover too...won't do much, but won't hurt either.

If you are thinking about doing this, order the shell, buy the parts you want and you'd save yourself the extra money on all those parts you are removing..

20 or so pounds won't make a difference plus it will look like crap. I used to fold down my rear seats on my fourth gen and it looked great made the car look like a two seater. On this one you still have to contend with the trunk whole.
