Russ
I heard it loses low end power and then I misread the dyno.

They do lose bottom end power. Notice how their dyno starts at about 2300rpm...thats where the QTP hp/tq curve just passes the factory curve....

I installed them today, but I can't use them. One of the motors has a recessed pin, so I can't open and close it. It's probably not good for the car to just open up one.

Just to put a cap on this thread, I fixed the harness pin and finished the installation today.

I just had a clearance issue with my QTPs....I was going into a steep driveway and they rubbed the side walk on both sides....I thought I should have parked on the street but decided to risk it

I backed out slowly immediately...left two short gashes in the driveway

I will look at it tomorrow to see if anything was damaged

Does anyone know what could happen if you catch one of these things on something? I'm worried I might have screwed up the the block where the header bolts screw into...like strip them out or something...I cringed when I heard the scrapping noise

I notice that everyone seems to be installing these in the bend just after the cats. Is there a reason?

Why not after axle just before the muffler?

... this might be a way to get around the clearance issues... and reduce the cabin noise and fumes.

B/c they would stick out like a sore thumb. I don't think that fumes are a concern, and you probably don't open them up if you're worries about cabin noise.

I had open headers for 2 days (well HF cats and x-pipe with no mufflers)... it was borderline unbearable. Maybe its not as bad for the guys with stock manifolds and cats.

I think that I may be able to hide them behind the rear air splitter (GFX). Since I dont have the big stock cans there may be room.

I was mainly asking if there is any performance or sound benifit from mounting them right behind the cats before the x-pipe.

I don't have to drive with them open, they're only open when I want them loud. Also, you don't have to open them all the way, you can crack them or leave them in any other position between closed and full open. You don't have to buy the fancy controller to do this either.

I imagine that most of us that have these still have the stock cans, so mounting them in the rear isn't an option. I actually asked the shop about putting them in the rear for ground clearance issues and they said they would be very obvious.
