2013 Boss vs 2013 Camaro 1LE

Looks like the 13 Camaro is going to be well upgraded getting new features such as the Cue system (navigation finally!), the Vette's dual mode exhaust, and other goodies Chevy hasn't mentioned yet. The most interesting is the new 1LE handling package, finally here to take on the boss! It keeps the same LS3 426 HP rating, is available in 6 speed only but apparently has new gears and a different rear end ratio. It takes a lot of suspension goodies from the ZL1, including it's front wheel and tire package (at all 4 corners). They are also looking to undercut the Boss in price promising a 1SS with the 1LE package will start under 40k. Discuss! Here is the MT article on the new 1LE.

Regardless of what they are able to do with handling I was really hoping to see a lighter car here. :(

i like that with the boss, at least they took the time to change the engine as well. Fully forged and people take them to 8000rpms without problems. Im sure the 1LE will perform well though.

I do agree the Boss is a more complete package, but this is close to what I have wanted to see in a Camaro all along. The engine is the biggest letdown, I had hoped for at least the hand built dry sump LS3 used in the Corvette GS.

I'm all about me some Chevrolet but I still think the BOSS would be the boss of the 1LE. I'm a keep waiting for a Z or another package or just the next model Camaro. With all the competition every year will have something special. Oh, and the 1LE is a very sharp car.

I was thinking the same thing.

They could have easily revised the tune and put in a slightly more aggressive cam. Would have been a nice offering at about 450hp. But then again this would probably cost a lot of money for re-tooling etc. They probably want to run all the non hand built ls3's down the same assembly line to save money.

I think this is going to have a hard time keeping up with the Boss on most tracks with standard SS power (especially the LS with comp r tires). But then again maybe this chassis has a ton of potential. We will see...

Without a bump in hp or a weight reduction I do not think that the 1LE will be bumping off the Boss in anything. I am however happy to see upgrades to the transmission and rear-end. The gears may also help a bit.

Maybe im wrong but it looks like Gm is just milking the camaro for all it's worth. Either that or the fan base has drastically changed and no longer cares about this stuff.

Seems like a viable business plan if you ask me.

I've got to assume the vettes dual mode exhaust is worth something or why would they put it on the car... weight savings? Is it not a 10hp upgrade on the vette? The gearing alone should help drop the ET's with the right launch.

Can't disagree at all... as long as they make money who cares.

I also think GM should have gave it a HP bump like Ford gave the Boss.

Both cars got more agressive gearing, a handling package, and different wheels, but the Boss got a HP gain and a higher redline.
