What is needed when I get a notice in the DIC saying service tire pressure monitor? I get this message once in a while and overide it and it comes back a week or two later.
The pressure is good in all 4 tires.

What determines the procedure that is required? The car or the sensors?
In other words, if I have a 2010, but I buy a set of wheels off a 2012, which method is the one that should be used? |

I'm 99% sure its the car not the sensors.

I got new wheels/tires about 3 weeks ago. The TPMS has been fine until today when halfway through my commute to work, the Service TPMS warning came on & the driver's side front tire showes no tire pressure reading at all just _ _ . I have been driving it with no problem up until now, even took a pretty long road trip. The tire pressure is fine checked manually. Do I just need to reset probably? I will try before taking it to a dealer but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else. I called the place that installed my wheels/tires & they said someone else with a 5th Gen Camaro had a similar thing happen.

If any of you guys are in the Southern NH area I run a tire shop and would be glad to assist you anytime with a TPMS issue and I do not charge for a simple relearn like the dealer does. It takes 2 minutes to go around most cars and reset the system if needed. The dealer as usual taking every inch they can or in this case every dollar.

Did you figure this out? Does anyone know if the tool we can now buy from GM works? Maybe my local dealer has an old version. Of course now I'm stuck between dealer, wheel dealer and Oro-Tek .... |

Sean said you have to "wake" them up. If they aren't programmed within an hour of being aired up they go to "sleep". Said to let all air out for about 10-15 minutes. Then air them all up quickly and reprogram.
Tried it once, didn't work, think I didn't let it sit long enough with no air. Gonna pm him now actually |

Okay so we tried to reset my TPMS today with no success. The first 2 tires would chirp fine but the passenger side rear one never would. If we passed it by & did the last one, it was fine too. So does that likely mean I have a bad sensor in that passenger side rear tire???????????

Looking at the sensors I think they are powered by CR2032 watch batteries. Those things can go bad.

I guess Ruby will get to spend some time at the local dealership on Tuesday to try to get the PTMS thing worked out. If the sensor is bad would that be covered under warranty? I know folks have to be able to get new tires but is warranty on the sensors transferrable to the new wheels?

Just to let everyone know, I have a late 2012. I bought a set of new GM sensors for $90 off Ebay, and was able to program them using the directions here. Thanks Camaro5....
